My Single 10" Blowthrough, complete install in '03 S10 (pics!)

amp install looks pretty clean. Maybe make a beauty panel for it or something to hide the wires and make the amps look almost flush mounted, along with the crossovers.

ok well since i originally had an idea of doing something similar..... with an 18 at least one.... id have to say u should have thought this through before doing this. you just completely ruined your bed and cab. it is not covered well enough AND you did a sealed box. do u have a cover or capmper at least?? if not uh oh and the wood and sub are toast... if not stolen. the cab looks great, and then u cut the whole out of it. Not what i would do at all but its your truck do as you wish. i really hope with all the trouble u went to it sounds good but im not sure.

wow................................all of that for a single X???????????

To answer questions:

Yes, lots of silicone was used inside the boot lip, around both edges both inside and outside the truck. A buddy of mine does spray in bedliners, and will be spraying over the box, so you won't be able to really tell what it is. I did this last year on another S10 I had, with 4 Alpine Type R 10s, and the box in the bed turned out really well actually.

I'm not super worried about it getting stolen. Needless to say it is bolted down quite securely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Some might say this was overkill for a single 10, but it's what I wanted to do and it sounds great. I didn't want to sacrifice legroom by building some box behind the seat, nor did I want to go with a different sub, and the mounting depth on the X is close to 9 inches.. way more than I have room for.

As far as the resale value goes, the truck is a 2003 Single Cab with 32k miles, that I paid $5k for. Wholesale book on it was $7500. I bought it for an economical daily driver that I could do whatever I wanted to. I plan on keeping it for 3-4 years, during which I'm sure I will change out the system on several occasions. I do plan eventually on doing a few more subs, but I'm not really in it for SPL competitions.

As far as the Dynamat goes, I got 2 bulk packs for under $200. I tried eDead and hated it, and Second Skin is here locally but it was actually more expensive than the Dynamat when I priced them both out.

Hopefully that answered a few questions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'll get pics up when the bedliner is done.

lol wow. is all people do is ***** out this guys install... seriously its not your install. im sure suggestions are welcome but to bash his install and what he did to his truck.. its none of your business.. if people have suggestions on how to improve it for this guy then say them. To go on and on about how it might get stolen... its his problem..

you know what you should do.

get one of those metal air conditioner covers to keep it from gettin wet and stolen

also use safety screw. like torx or something or allen key screws,

but honestly that is a bit much for a single 10 unless you plan on upgrading to a 10 that can take 1500w or a 12"

I will, I GARUNTEE that blowthrough will leak the first time it sees rain. I mean SERIOUSLY, who in their right mind does a blowthrough without come sort of protection in the bed? If someone wants ALL of his audio equipment they could have it in under a minute (rip out box, go through hole in bed/cab, rip out amps and x-overs). All for what? A sealed 10" sub because he had to be "cool" and do a half assed job on his blowthrough, i'll give him credit the amp and x-overs are done failry well, but **** think things through before you go cutting up a perfectly good truck where the same setup would have easily fit behind the seat.
It's funny to see how angry and opinionated people get about this stuff. It is completely sealed, redundantly. The boot is sealed in and of itself, then siliconed to death on top of that, and a spray in bedliner will be done this weekend. Not to mention, I live in Phoenix, where we see rain about 10 days out of the year. Good luck ripping out that box, too, as it is bolted through the bottom of the box to the bed, along with being bolted from the front of the box to the front of the bed.

And who said I had to be cool? I didn't post this up so everyone would say "God, that's a sick blow through! This guy is so cool!" I bought this truck WITH THE INTENTION of doing a blow through. I did another one in an S10 I had last year, and used the exact same methods, including the boot and the silicone, and spray in bedliner on top of that, and it made it through a weekend of rain with no problem whatsoever. I spent about a week drawing up the plans and box design, along with lots of hours, doing it myself, since last weekend. I am, however, sorry I didn't pour months of research along with thousands of dollars into it at some shop, so someone who can't spell can tell me it looks like shit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
