My new system ^^

No offense, but check my signature for the budget system that I put in my 1997 Civic coupe. It will blow yours away in terms of SQ and raw output!

The RSD components are not that bad. I am getting ready to install the RSD 6.5 along with an Alpine Type Yarr tweeter in my Mustang as part of my active front setup. Those crappy 8" factory subs got to go because they **** big time! Since I plan to stick the 6.5 midbass driver in the factory 8" subwoofer hole, I won't even have to worry about sealing my doors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The problem is I have several requirements.

First - I need front stage and rear fill. Good sound in each. Because I have people riding with me 75% of the time I use my car, and we all listen to the same music, and that's half the reason I'm getting an audio system.

Second - I need trunk space. Which means I need to do the shallow mounts under the seats, as I have no other place to really put a subwoofer in the car. And if I'm doing that, I want two of them, one under each seat, to get the balanced sound for others in the car.

So, I'm designing a system that meets these, yet isn't too hard on the budget.

do you have a decent rear deck? you could do infinite baffle.
But then I lose the mid and treble, unless I do some custom cutting for mounts. I'm looking basically at the entire car as a sound stage - not just the drivers seat. And topped by the requirement of an empty trunk.

Just get a good set of comps up front and the rear passengers will be taken care of if you invest in some quality comps. You don't need need subs under each seat to obtain a "balanced" sound. There's plenty of deals around here you just gotta look. And go edumucate urself.

one of the advantages of a Mustang front door...lol how many vehicles have a .5 enclousure in theirs doors from the factory...you can get a little crazy and tune it by venting it into the stock 6x8 place right above it also...I've considered this after I get my ID horns installed

Another person already brought up the problems involved in this - for them to hear it clearly, it makes it difficult for those up front to hear those in the back. While a set in front in back, and these are decent anyways, will allow all to hear it nice and clearly without any problems. Flow with me here - I'm getting two sets of comps, two shallow mount subs, and an amp for the subs - if you have some good advice on these, let me know.

Also, I'm in a moderately unique situation. For a long list of reasons, I need to stick with authorized retailers, and not getting the system from others. I've also decided for the two subs from experience - I do want them for the balanced sound, it doesn't sound right to me without it. Don't ask why - I'm going by what I hear. And yes, setup makes all the difference, but with minimum room, it's pretty much limited to a sealed box facing upwards - not a whole lot you can do to change that.

I'm "edumucated" enough, thank you. I've decided on the setup type I want - and generally on the parts. I don't have a large budget here, I've stretched it as much as I can.

well. if you really want to do the shallow mounts, pioneer's are decent for the money. i did 2 behind the back seat of a chevy extended cab 2500. very small, .65 cubes per 12, tuned to 36 hz gets pretty loud actually. sealed is a much smaller box. around .4 is good. there are better, but you'll pay much more.

The pioneers are another thought of mine.

Really, I need something around 200 RMS apiece, and that sounds good. Loudness isn't really a factor. I found some JL 8w1's, that could work well for me, for $70 apiece. I want to avoid something high power, regardless of the price, because that'll mean a bigger amplifier. And the amps jump from a $100 to $200 quite fast, and I doubt I can afford that.

Also, found two RE8's for $105 for a pair. I'm thinking those would sound good. These are a bit cheaper than the pioneer's, too. Almost half the price, in fact.
