My New/First Car! :)

If it cost more than $2k, it's too much for your first car. Don't act like you aren't spoiled for getting a free Land Rover as a first car and getting free gas (and I'm assuming insurance, and probably free college when the time comes).
Do you at least have a job? If so, and that money is going to something useful, then it's not so bad. But if you have no job or only pay for frivolous things with the money you make, you're hardcore spoiled.
eh, I plan to get a pretty **** good scholarship since I'm either 1st or 2nd in my class and made above a 30 on all of my practice ACTs (now how close those practice tests are to the real thing, I have no idea... I'll find out in April). And always straight A's. And no, I do not have a job. The only time I do have a job is during the summer which this summer will go ALL to my car.

i dont mind when kids get this type of stuff when they turn 16 as long as they take care of it. there is a kid in my area who i assume is 16 and his parents bought him a brand new gt500. he doesnt take care of it at all and runs the pi$$ out of it. i hope that kid totals it soon just to show he is a jackass. but anyway enjoy your car. its not your fault your parents make that much money so just ignore a lot of people on here

you guys are making a big deal about his first car.

that land rover can be had easily for under 13k.

its not a new range rover lolol

depressing how i bought my jeep for right at 15k a little under a year ago, they are like 11k now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

My daddys in jail and my mommy hooks for crack so unfortunately I did not have any other choice but to steal my first far.
**** sounds like you must have had a rough childhood //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Edit: Did you atleast steal a nice car?

My dad made me get a job and buy his old car on payments.

Still if he would have offered that to me for free I doubt if I or any one on this boards would have said F you, I wanna wait for a year till I have some money from working Mickey D's.

I have to say, when I have kids I'd never give them anything near that new or nice.
First vehicles should be rustbuckets, unless the kid pays for it themselves.
Word! Parents could have bought my first ride and would have been a decent ride, but I never asked them and assumed it was just how it went. I spent 250 smacks on my first car. Sold my drum set to get it, lol!

Meh, I think a kid should have something cheap for a first car. It builds character. But I really don't care how nice the car is. It's just that, in my experience, the kids whose parents bought them nice cars for their 16th birthday were the kids who never really had to work for anything. As long as there are conditions to his having the car, I think it's OK (conditions like getting good grades, having a job, paying for practical things, staying out of trouble, not getting tickets, etc).
Word, granted this kid sounds like he grew up around white collars, so I imagine he will be the same way. I don't fault him, but his parents. Then again, I wouldn't turn it down if given to me either, lol!

lol I like all the responses from people saying that they wish their parents gave them stuff, and bought them cars, paid for thier gas and insurance... get over it?
Fawk you Richy Rich! Have some kids and grow up in the blue collar field and let me know how you feel then.......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

My first car gets 8 mpg. I chose to get another. Have fun with that.
Ouch!

i bought my first truck at 14 and drove around til i was 18 before i picked up my license. my family business had no clue what child labor laws were, but i am a better person for it.

The kid is doing really good in school so I can't really say he's that spoiled

As long as parents teach the kid to value what he has, he should be fine.

Great first car. My first car was a 1988 Lincoln Towncar.

I ran it through a bunch of backyards and went through a wall.

So buying your first car that's fairly expensive is sometimes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif if you get into an accident with it

Never the less good luck. Hope to see some updates soon!

(Don't listen to the bishes on here, consider your self lucky to have fortune in your life) Just don't be a douche
