My install's coming along nicely

to fade someone is to trick them

im saying you worked in IT but you cant trick a isp level 1 tech who is reading from a script to try and help you get your crap working.

if you have a degree in cs you should know whats wrong before you call your isp.

and no its not like you were forced by gunpoint to get someone to get your car audio working, but you were forced to get help if you wanted it to work.

A little of both. And LOTS of ego testosterone driven C R A P which has nothing to do with Caraudio.
And it's not that much of a monster install to anyone else except me. Stuff I'm installing is all listed in my sig file which I have yet to update with the fact that I killed my Alpine SWR-t12 low profile sub driver and am replacing it with a JL Audio low profile sub driver, soon!

Is this the longest ongoing thread in caraudio history? I keep seeing it pop up in the recent threads but I haven't gone through and read it all.
What's up with this thread? Either John Kuthe is working on one monster of an install or he is lost. Which one is it?
Well the install is a weekends worth of work stretched into, what 3 or 4 months ?

Since the beginning of Sept to the end of Dec, Lots of changed midstream, etc. I had fun! Got some good work done for me too which I did not know exactly how and have the money to pay someone who does!

So P I S S OFF PURCHASER!! ;-)

I mean, I get being in no big hurry to get stuff done. Almost every build I've ever done I've spent weeks on once I purchased all the equipment going in it. Most of my installs required a good bit of fabrication (biggest project was shoehorning 6 15s in an extended cab part of a Ranger without having to wall). It's never taken me months though.

What's the holdup with this install?

Different challenges as we went. But we overcame them all and I got my system installed pretty much the way I had planned. I'm learning a lot, and yes I wish I could do a full blown Caraudio.com 100% approved excellent sound system, but that would have obviated one design criteria I had upfront: use all and ONLY Chrysler's stock speaker mounting locations, which folks her still rail at me about and I don't CARE!! It's MY car audio system, not anyone else's! Only non stock speakerage I have are two 1" PHD tweeters mounted to my lower A-pillars and onew 12: sub in a cabinet in the driver's side Stow-n-Go seating pits in the floor behind the driver's seat!

It took me and my installer guy months because we worked a very erratic schedule,. Tue, Wed ads Thurs between 10AM and 4PMish, and not always very time efficiently! I'm 1/2 retired so I was in no rush, and I was paying him more and more as we went. (I love having $$ I can play with!)

His ego, stubbornness, lack of understanding of electronics and cluelessness of how sound and music works. Lol. Plus he spends far too much time on this forum making a fool of himself.

I Killed My Television over 7 years ago. The Internet and web ARE my "television" out unlike that Idiot Box that I wasted watching that infernal device, the Internet is PARTICIPATORY!

So I do!

Lots of waiting in mail order supplies too! I would have liked to have gotten more Damplifier Pro, but installer guy already put the whole package I'd purchased in all the crucial spots and I had purchased a 50 foot roll of BQuiet so I had installer guy use that for the less crucial panels to sound deaden. I LOVE that Damplifier Pro stuff! Expensive but worth it!

Ya there's a whole lot of waiting in this hobby. Next build will go faster because you tend to collect supplies and parts before you start far in advance , but you usually still end up waiting on something- subs to be built, amps orders to come in or something and it's always something

Yep! That's part of the FUN of this hobby!

I'm probably never gonna do another auto audio build, but I have learned a LOT doing this one! I gotta get this one optimized as much as possible right now, and with it being 10F outside and me not having any extremely good and reliable help, well it's just me now, so... Lost a lot of confidence in Tim at Custom Sounds when her diagnosed a short in my passenger door speaker wire run when it was 100% the inability to get a good Ohm reading via those infernal Alpine amp plugs!

It's amazing how fast our priorities change when the base of our canvass (the CAR) needs attention!

Baby II began running very rough and the "check engine" light came on in this 5F weather we are having in STL so this AM I got her down to a Hertz car rental place and rented a car AND called AAA to have Baby II towed down to my fave AAA approved shop who does not even open until Monday! Getting my car audio system all fixed up and running optimally suddenly became a far second priority!
