Well the other day a friend of mine came to me sayin he wanted me to design him a system. Well i have never design a system before, i have gave ppl suggestion before but never have i had full control over everything. So we get started a lil late in the afternoon, like around 4:00 p.m. And all the local shops around here close at 5:00 or 6:000. HE also wanted them to install it cus, he says i am slow. And he wanted it done in a hurry.
So I ask him how much do u want to spend on the system. He kept sayin "fuk the cost" " I got mad money".Then i laughed and say for real how much do u want to spend. Then he says "man fuk the cost". So we got to a local audio shop that sells Memphis and I tell him on the way there lets go with 1 15 in a ported box. SO i talk the the sell the sales guy.And he told the guy he wanted 2 12s. SO i say but one 15 will give him low deep bass. And he says that 2 12s will have 24 inches of cone area. so the 2 12s will get louder. SO i go what eva. Then he lets us demo 2 15s, with about 200 watts @ 4 ohms mono. He has some bass cd playin sine wave. (I mean what sub can,nt get loud on sine waves). So then i tell him to put it on the new memphis Pr 500.1 class d. and he says that the class d 500 watt will not out perform the 400 watt amp. And he will not let us demo it.
So once the guy start spittin out prices my friends now all of a sudden my friend has a budget of $500. And he wants 2 12s and an amp and box (retail mind u, being on the internet will fuk ur price perspective up).
SO i chose to go with 2 Type R 12s dvc and Memphis new pr 500.1 class d amp. And put in in a 1.25 ft^3 per chamber sealed. so after displacement it is like 1.12 per chamber.
SO since we get there so late they can not install it so i have to. SO it takes me like 3 to 4 hours. THey part that took the most was the dam line output converter. Yes, he wanted to keep his factory head unit and cus it had a cd changer. But what i tried to tell him is that the system will not get that loud cus ur head unit only put out like 25 watts max.
But all in all, I think i did him a great job at retail prices for only $500 but we really spent like $600. But he has a nice setup. Oh and also that amp i got him is a 500 watt RMS amp . So i have no idea what its max power is.
p.s. The sale guy was an ***. Every time i had some thing to say he something better. Like the reason they are makin more subs that come apart is for shipping reason. How it that, the package ways the same assembled or disassembled.
but all and all the customer was happy and that is all that matters.
