My friends new sub is rattling

He bought a 12" MB Quart RWE 304 and we installed it last weekend and right when we hooked it up and it sounded fine. Then the next day we set the gain and then we noticed it was rattling. I wondered if the box wasn't sealed. I pushed on the cone and could hear a noise. I told him to silicone the edges and corners inside the box and then he did that and let it dry without the sub for a while. Then we put the sub back in and then it no longer made the noise when i pushed it in so i knew the airleak was fixed. We turned the sub back on and it still rattles. At very low volumes even. Whats wrong with it? Did the air leak somehow damage the sub?

they have plastic voice coil formers, if you bottomed it out you might be hearing the coil rub

Sorry i fixed that now. Siliconed the box to fix the airleak. And idk if he blew it.

It's 1.2 cubes sealed. I think the internal dimensions were 13" H x 9.5" D x 16" W

Damage to the coil, most likely.

if it is worth it, contact psi or splaudio, they will tell you all you need to know.
