My First System! Please Critique!

Let's assume your budet it $1500..

Headunit: Alpine CDA-117 $350 (a very nice headunit, will kill that sony, but the headunit is the most important part for overall sound)

Fronts: Image Dynamics CTX65CS $190

Rears: (Do you need 4" speakers? Try to get 6.5s...) Image Dynamics CTX4 $99 for the 4", CTX 6 $140 for the 6"

4 Channel Amp: AudioQue 4x90 $230

Sub: Fi Q 12", or 15" $250

Box for sub: $100 to have someone build you one

Amp for sub: Audioque 1200D $250

Wiring for it all: $100

Total comes to $1569, and you're system will blow anyone elses you have heards away.

honestly, im gonna say there is not a **** thing wrong with the Sony deck. its has 3 outputs sub control and bt built. i sell and install Sony decks all day. everyone on here wants or has spl type installs but for a daily driver you will be happy with that deck. if you want a ddin it will cost a lot more. i am not a fan of buying used equipment, or using online retailers if you are not gonna install it your self and you want a warranty.
where are you gonna buy this stuff at?

how do you know what he has or hasn't heard? And these prices don't include installation, I doubt OP is installing anything himself.

With installation, warranty, and tax this is about a $2,000 system. After the discount I'm looking at $1,300-$1,500. That's a pretty sick discount WITH a 2-year warranty.

Why is the sony head bad? That is litteraly the top-of-the-line Sony Bluetooth head unit. Should I go double-DIN?

Also, what is the "big 3"?

start by trying to budget closer to a dollar per watt for a starter system.

I'm not doing anything myself. install is like 300 minus a 20% discount.

Fry's Electronics is the retailer.

What makes a good head unit good? Preouts? Equalizers?

What is spl type install?

Thinking about it.. 1300$ isn't that bad since he is not installing it himself, there isn't too much choosing when you aren't doing everything yourself.

I bought a box for a single 10 and it cost only like $85 shipped.

Way to take what I said literally.. And I didn't think about installation. LOL I just read around and had my dad help with me when I started with installing my stuff, free+research time>$300.

Not with the equip I'd go with, but I'd also install myself.... I'd try to learn how to install and have someone pick out your gear (above) and get some real gear

About 2 weeks after using that equip. you will prolly want to be louder. Ive done it and seen it happen so many times, people want a system yesterday and dont take the time to research the good stuff.

Just my 2 cents. If you end up going through your buddy and actually like the system, good for you. Either way good luck with whatver you choose to do.

wow, the equipment you are buying isn't that great at all. Get an alpine head unit and some image dynamic speakers or something if you are gonna spend that much money.
