my alero build problem

hello all i am going to build a custom box for my alero. it will be 2 boxes formed to the bottom of the trunk in glass and wood for the top. they will be about 4 cubic feet with 2 4" ports each. my problem is i dont know where to place my subs and ports so it will be loudest for competition. i know it was pretty loud with the subs facing the back and the ports on the opposite side of the box facing into the car. but i read that the ports need to be facing the same way as the subs. i am just plain confused. please help

not a competitor by far but from what i have read the best results are with the subs and ports facing the roof..

my subs face up now with the ports into the cab and its not as loud as it was with the subs rear facing

Intrigue is loud suv style,should be about the same for alero, idk with subs up and port firing at the trunk. But its loudest with both back.

so the port was on the side of the box on the side to the right of the subs?

You have the wrong vehicle for competition (trunk car; very difficult to SPL)

Do the rear seats fold down in an Alero?

yes the seats fold down.

For a competition set-up I would face all forward with the largest port area you can cut

The box will probably take most of the trunk

For Cruz around bass face all back

I read somewhere never to put ports behind the drivers. Always ontop, below, on the side, or in front, but never in the rear.

yeah i think i am going to go with port back subs back and angled a little. i am going to build a square box and move it around in the car first i think. thanks everyone for your help
