My 15" XXX Review....was interesting...

ok, so just below 30 Hz. what exactly does this function do.??Sorry to sound like an idiot after all of this but...I lack the experience. Its funny how much stuff I bring up to the guys I work with that I read about on here, and they are just all like "huhhh, i dont know. Just hook it up man, it doesnt matter WHYYY it does that"....... I even said "What is the best amp to use for components...isnt it like class A, or A/B, something like that"....response.."Uhhhhh, im not sure. I didnt think it really mattered."

Did you read BCAE yet?

A subsonic filter is just a HPF (high pass filter) that prevents your sub from playing infrasonic frequencies (which you can't hear) but in a bass reflex enclosure could lead to the driver "unloading" and bottoming out.

Depends.

With a 32Hz box, you're not really going to get a ton of frequencies below tuning that will damage the driver, unless you throw subsonic test tones all day at it. Tuning the SSF too high will cause a noticeable drop in low bass.

ok cool. I just looked on that website and couldnt find anything for subsonic filter. if you have a change you think you could find it for me.

that site looks pretty **** helpful though for someone like me...put it in my favs!.

at 32 hz you'd ideally set it at 24hz, which is subsonic, no real music has any actual sound down that low. That shouldn't be effecting your performance either way. Perhaps the reason you feel underwhelmed is because you your last setup was 4 twelves?

no, see the thing is its just as loud as my 4 12's because it was a bad design/idea (not mine...i only wanted 3). Ok...just set it at like 22-24 ill give it shot tonight and report back tomorrow. T3mpest....do you live south of the city by any chance?

There is no magical place a SSF should be set at (5hz lower, 10hz, 1/2 octave, etc). Where the sub unloading becomes an issue (reason for the SSF) is dependant on many things including box size/alignment and power being used. The 'ideal' SSF point changes from system to system.

ok, well I jsut went and bumped after changing a few of those setting and IM PISSED!!! This is really starting to frusterate the hell out of me. I turned it up with the first song on the new Young Jeezy cd.... CLIIIIIPED!!!! My amp went right into protect....put the gains back how I had them and it was fine....WHAT IS WRONG....!!

Oh and to make things worse...I just heard my buddys 12" W7 in a Mountaineer with 1000 watt JL amp in a 5 cubic foot box....Kicked the crap out of this XXX in EVERY way possible...sounded better, hit tighter, got louder.
