do you have a dmm? have you checked to make sure your amp is putting out the power you desire?

Can i see your box plan/design? If you dont have one could you give me some measurements?

Having the box on the back seat of a trunk car generally is not going to give you the greatest of performance either..

ok...but even if so...why is it maxing out so early. I have my radio at 20/35 and its maxxed out...i turn it up a little more just so I can hear the lyrics.....and again...why would the amp go into protect......yea, ill send you the plans right now if I still have them...what is your email address?

why is what maxing out too early? the amp? Did you check the speaker outputs to make sure they are putting out the proper power? To put out the same power at a higher volume...lower the gain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Everyone is telling me this sub should be able to take this amp no problem, and I believe that...BUT..my sub is reaching its limits in this box (does NOT look like Xmax) at 20 on my radio with the amp at half gain.

As far as the interior goes right now...im done messing aroudn with it...it sounds like crap. I have 2 6 1/2 inch alpine type r components up front, and they can barely keep up with my XXX with sounds bad right now.....

I was playing BubbleGum Yum Yum today...and for those of you who know that song... it start out with that lowww bass line, then it hits higher for a beat, prolly like 35-38 HZ id guess which SHOULD be a hard note, and is in every other setup ive had/heard........it cant pick it up....its dull as hell....

HERE...once i get my new car, i want to send this box to someone, so they can cut it open and tell me what the hell I did wrong.!!

Hmmm, playing a 40hz test tone with my xxx15 in 2 cubes sealed off of about 1100 watts...got pretty freaking loud. Not ungodly loud but pretty dam loud for a single 15 sealed.

Subs with xbl^2 motors sound different than conventional drivers. Many people perceive the lack of distortion as being quieter.

If the box is built the way you say it is, and all your equipment is working fine, there is no way a XXX won't reproduce a 35-38hz note. Ive yet to hear one of my XXX's sound 'dull'. Ive heard them clearly lack the annoying low-end rumble so many other subs tend to have but shouldn't, and Ive heard them fall flat on their face when trying to reproduce midbass, but Ive never heard them sound dull.

I didn't give that much thought before, but that could be it. He might be used to all the distortion that a lesser woofer creates at the end of it's throw.

At one point I had a similar problem with my sub, it felt dull because it was ALL low end and no punch... a smaller box fixed it and made it feel more alive.

I doubt its the sub, consider changing the box to match your tastes more.

I will. I have to...I think I just owe it to this sub to give it another try...because after hearing that Dub7 today.....it was pretty freakin loud...My eyes were rattling hard core... I just need to get rid of this car.

Vehicles also make a BIG difference.... 4RE 8's in an extended cab GMC...loud, not ball rattleing.... same 4 8's in a hatch, same sized box aprox same tuning.... ball rattleing loud. easily 5dB louder...same amp and all.

yea, but a sedan should be louder than a mountaineer shouldnt it...given all the equipment is the same lets say....I would understand a hatch being louder, but not a full sized SUV.
