Ok, so I have this 15" XXX in my car bumpin now. 3.8 Cu. Ft. Box tuned to 32 Hz....

I dunno what I think of it even....its kinda all over the place

When I play Young Jeezy, or something like Lil Jon and pouunds pretty good for 1 15". BUT...when I play regular rap that isnt meant to just pound rediculous...it isnt all that loud....Also on those few cd's that pounnnnd, it only gets really loud on a few notes....

Set to 32 Hz, supposedly an SQ setup...im not to impressed with the SQ of this driver. anything above 45 Hz id say, it really cant get there...at all.

While we're on this SQ thing...I have a question please....If I buy a driver that is known to hit reallyyyy low, does that there ALONE mean that its an SQ driver...becauuuuse you have to tune it low. Cause everyone is saying "SQ tune low....SQ tune low" isnt that also saying....SQ hit low...SQ hit low."

I think that if I built a box for this driver tuned to 38-40 Hz I would be more impressed with it.

HAS ANYONE PUT THIS IN A SEALED BOX!!?? Thats also something else I would like to do...give it a little more punchy sound, instead of the kind of sloppy boomy im getting now.

IMpeadance rise, its your enemy.
Chart your impeadance and get back to us //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
why? so he knows what his impedance rise is? then what?

i dont see the correlation of rise and a daily driver set-up.

FYI WinISD says you will start to peak around 40-45Hz and peka at about 50Hz which would explain what you are talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wouldn't care about IR unless you're burping at a single frequency...then it can be the devil, as I've found out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

WinISD isn't always the best predictor of in-cabin gain.

Yes and no. SQ-based alignments are generally tuned lower to reduce the peak in frequency response you get from tuning high. There's a lot more that goes into a good SQ driver than just something that can reproduce very low bass.

1st your box is on the small side. Did you expect a lot of low end extension in a box that small? Try at least 5 cubes.

Second what power is it seeing? also as mention impeadance rise is no ones friend.

Third who built the box? any bracing?

Mine had/has no problem playing above 45hz. And in fact sounds great doing it.

because impeadance rise causes power loss. Power loss means less output. Impeadance rise is what causes what he is talking about. If yo uchart your impeadnace yo ucan set your gains with a voltmeter to the minimum impeadance instead of 1ohm. If he has a decently flat impeadance curve then it could be due to the vehicle's resonance causing cancelation, especially where he sits.

5 cubes isnt' necessary. I had mine in 4 cubes and it got low as hell. I think you might be right, it might be a shitty box.

Ok ok...what is impedence rise...this is new to me, I havent heard that term on here much....

I didnt expect THAT much low end extension...even though it hits better low, than High....BUT my type R's were tuned to 35 Hz, and had a little more low end extension....

Its a 1 ohm...Ive got an autotek stealth 1600.1 at half gain on it.

I built the box...there are absolutely NO leaks...and its built like a friggin brick....maaaade sure of that because of what I was expecting this thing to do....which it really didnt do.....

mmkay then forget my last comment. Impeadance rise is a rice in the impeadance due to Inductance, Heating of the coils, Enclosure, excetera. It can be charted with a clamp meter or a non inductive resistor and a pair of volt meters.
