Mounting depth on truck

I have a 99 Chevy truck and I was told by a friend that I would be limited on speakers because of a shallow mounting depth. Does anyone know the mounting depth on a chevy truck? It has 6.5's and tweets in the door.

Your truck can take an oversize 6.5" ion the door like any MB Quart 6.5" speaker with a mounting depth of about 2.6". While you are in that door make sure you brown bread the doorskin.

Brown bread is sound deadening material that adds mass to the rather large gong that is your exterior door skin. When it is used it keeps the metal door skin from resonating and robbing lower output frequencies from the speakers. Go outside and knock on the door skin in dead center and see how it echoes. This effect is negated with the proper use of sound deadening.
