Yeah, you guys are gonna get this kid killed. Do yourself a favor and take the MSF course before you buy a bike.
WOW, that just proves you've never owned a bike. A cruiser is not gonna outrun a late model sportbike. Or at least one of the race replicas.rockets are for those who just wanna show off, and haul @ss.
I used to ride with em, on a chopper. I laughed when they stood up to stretch and all that. They were always cramping up, and complaining their balls were hot.
And it was AWESOME at redlights when we'd launch.....redline, and dump it......LMAO....I pulled a 3ft tops, and launched like an AWD 1200 hp porsche.....they 12 0'clocked and lost speed. Until about 65-75, I was up front, on a TWICE as heavy bike. And I'm 350 to begin with.
And you have NO IDEA how much more attention you get on a nice cruiser than a rocket. I know. I had both, regret the rocket, loved the chopper.
+1 I can't believe the bs advice these people give. It's so f'n obvious they've never owned a bike.i wasnt saying i use my bike to pick up girls, from experience more girls like the sport bikes, and to the dueche who put a coffin in his post, i "run" at the track, i live 15 minutes from atco raceway, theres just alot of uninformed posts in this thread. half these ppl have probably never ridden a bike.
Yeah, I say get a used 600 sport or ***** bike. I started on a new 600 and regret it because I kinda payed a high premium to have a new bike. Definately a lot of close calls learning. A new 600 is faster than most supercars off the line just to give you some perspective. If you're careful and responsible with your throttle hand you should be ok with an older 600.so on a serius note, get a used bike, preferably a ***** or older 600. and yes, cruisers and sport bikes will run together up to 40ish. after that, sportbike gearing takes the cake. all bikes are fast no matter how ya slice it.
Hey, don't let this discourage you. Just make sure you take the MSF course, wear at least a full face helmet and leather jacket and gloves every time you ride. These are the things people don't teach you in the beginning and definately lessons you don't want to learn first hand. One of the few times I rode without a jacket I took a spill and broke my shoulder blade. Thank god I was wearing a helmet though.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Smoldering the rear tire isn't the fastest launch, but quite a fun one. And since a heavy bike (cruiser/chopper) is easier to launch than a crotch rocket, the majority of big motor cruiser/choppers will be able to out hole-shot most crotch rocket riders out there whether it be the bike or the lack of burning the clutch you describe. I've seen it many times....And so you know... A fast launch is when you DONT have rear wheel spin. Not smoldering it. Just bc you never learned how to PROPERLY launch your sport bike and went to the, anyone can do it red line and drop the clutch. Thats not the faster method... If that were the case why are the drag guys on sport bikes and not on your slower more retard proof choppers? They look good most times yes. But trying to say that it’ll out run a R6 off the line... Your crazy my friend.
If you do that you will get more seasoned riders giving you advice. They are a good place to find good deals on used bikes too.i think im just going to try to find one of the 08 ninja 250's used when the time comes...i guess i should make my way over to a motorcycle forum and start asking stuff there..
