Its generally due to the lack of knowledge of how power actually works. They just think 4-2 ohms double the power why not do 2-1 ohm then and get twice the power of that.

However I don't think that's the case here.

Yeah, I wouldnt bother here.

It would be pulling so much more power from the batteries, it wouldnt even be worth it. All that would do is give you a hot amp (maybe in protect), and really crappy voltage.

whoa people chill out..it was a simple question. and no i understand im not gaining any power..i dont need anymore. calm down. im not an idiot. i just wanted a straight up answer. im not doing it relax..end thread.

ya i understand..i left the thread yesterday and it was at 6 posts and then i check today and its 3 pages of craziness..well now i have 3 amps that do 4000rms! awesome.

thanks for the help peoples

Yeah... People really have a boner nowadays for running amps below their minnimum impedance and at double their RMS.
Dont get it.
you did it, and destroyed a bunch of ish so now everyone else that wants to do it is stupid? And how does dropping the ohm load of an amp double its rms?

i run my mm4000 @ 1 ohm for comps and the previous owner of mine ran 2 in his car @ 1 ohm each daily. No signs of burns or excessive heat on the board. He said he had no problems with it at that impedance. He was also on team maxxsonics and using it at 1 ohm via advice of mike stiers.

Even at 1ohm, itd draw more power to make just a lil bit of a diff....wouldnt be its most effcient spot

Like i said 1.4 is the sweet spot.....ask around on Termpro and you shall find the answer as well

The average person who just wants a system in their car isnt going to bother with a system thats constantly teetering on the edge of disaster. Its fine for competitors and people who really want to push their equipment, but when you're running more or less budget equipment like Hifonics Brutus amps, you can only push so far. People just need to buy equipment and run it like its supposed to be run.

And like I said before, equipment works differently in different scenarios. Maybe with his box the amp was rising up enough to run just fine.

Im just saying that in general the average person shouldnt run a 1 ohm stable amp and a 500rms sub with the amp @ .5ohm and the sub seeing 1,200rms for example. Pointless for just listening to music on every day drives. In a Bassrace run, thats a whole different story.

That's right you have the older MA that does the true 4000.Quite the collection.I got my own collection going as well, 2 4000d's for now.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
im tryin to find another 5082hx to run as well..
