Magna *** Laude Build

i dont get it, what did you forget? Those boxes looked perfect minus the top missing.... I am lost. You said you left them, but then said you found better use for them so obviously you moved them. Cant you just put a top on them and cut the circles and you will be good to go?

The smaller boxes go inside the large enclosure. They are for the midrange drivers.

Since the midrange driver I selected is a standard open-back woofer, it needs its own sub-enclosure. From an ease-of-construction standpoint, I decided that a 7" internal square running from the front to the rear of the cabinet would be very simple and provide ample driver room. This yields about a .35 cu. ft. sealed enclosure for the midrange, which is sufficient to keep the resonance peak low in frequency and magnitude.

My secret Plan 8" concrete tube.

After Bondoing the hell out of the speakers I sanded them like there was not tomorrow...

Anyways Sanded:

I then decided I didn't really want a huge roundover so I just used a 3/8ths roundover on the front and back. The design doesn't call for this but I did so I did it.

The speakers were then ready for primer. I happen to have a spray booth so I used a shellac based primer and sprayed it out of my hvlp gun.

And then carpet on the table to keep from scratches:

Im gonna bust out some 220 grit shortly and sand these mother****ers and then they are ready for the final coat. Still deciding on a color..

I suggest you cover the back of the tweeters with some wood or something to keep the bass from venting thru the tweeters and damaging them. Some tweets are sealed and this isn't a problem, others are open to the back and the bass can push right on the diaphram to vent out the front.

I will always vote for baisc black. Piano black if you want fancy.
