Thats correct the lower the setting the softer the dampening. Do it right buy new springs and shocks
Thats correct the shock will have nothing to do with the ride height, just the smoothness of the ride. The spring is what effects ride height. I have kyb adjustable shocks the only thing that lowers my car is the coilovers not the settings of the shock. Here is a link to the koni site for more infrmation http://www.koni-na.com/products.cfmso when the perch gets moved down a notch, the rides height will remain the same?
yeah buy new springs and struts for the front and new shocks and springs for the rear, ur ride quality now has gotta be nasty. and while u have it apart replace ur ball joints, and check ur tie rod ends, and get an alignment after you do it165,000:crap: Never had a problem out of it, ran strong all these years and still going.

you my friend, are absolutely retardedor get the koni yellows and your can lower your car by adjusting the perches on the shock itself
Try measuring from the center of the rotor to the edge of the fender. It's pretty easy to level coilovers.i had coilovers on my 87 gti, and it was a PITA to get the thing level....
Even counting turns, the only way to know for sure was with a 4-corner scale.
If you don't NEED to be able to adjust it, figure out the stance you want, and get a regular set of springs and shocks, and be done with it.
uh, that's why you make your adjustments before you put them on.. of course you'll need to have access to someone else's settings but if you just try adjusting them AFTER the car is on, you end up wasting a LOT of time taking the wheels off and putting them back on. i guess i was lucky when i got mine hehe, zero wasted time.i had coilovers on my 87 gti, and it was a PITA to get the thing level....

Daily driving doesn't require tweakability. And even when you're LOW, you learn where you can go, and where you can't, and learn little tricks, like crossing speed bumps diagonally. I had to back into my bank parking lot in my 91. And it's great fun swearing up and down to a towing company that you need a flatbed for your car, but they still don't beleive you and send a normal truck, so you have to wait for them to go all the way back and dispatch a flatbed. And even then, you need to use 2x4's to get onto the truck depending on how low you go.
