Looking to upgrade the bass...

Ok guys, I currently am running 2 Memphis M-Class 10's in a Memphis ported box, running an old lanzar vibe 500w amp (I know I need better).

I'm needing to replace the amp as Its been freaking out a bit lately, and I think im going to change up the subs too. This is a daily driver, so nothing with a huge airspace requirement. It's going in the back seat of a Toyota Tacoma Ex. Cab. I like the M-Class but want more bass. I was looking at the Fi Q and also the BL 10's or 12's, also the JL W7's (I could only afford 1 JL) I really cant go any more expensive than that. Would a 1000w rms mono be enough to push two Fi 10's or 12's? Any suggestions would be great, amps included. (amp can't cost over $350, stock electrical system).

I am a fan of Fi. I would say get the BL's as they have good SQ and also get loud. A 1000 watt RMS amp wont' be enough to run two Q's or BL's; only one. There are a ton of amps that you can get that are under 350 so I would say to search on the classifieds. Being that you're only getting a 1000 RMS amp, you should only go for 1 12" BL

try tc sounds drivers if u can find any, great sq and dont require really big amounts as long as in a decent box.

a pair of diamond d-3s with a ported box and 1000rms would be nice also.

Would 1 12" BL in a ported box within Fi's specs be much louder than my 2 10's?

I did see a AudioQue amp for a nice price when I was looking around the other day.

How are their quality?

I have looked at those and I've heard great things. I think 1 12" at 1000rms would hit alot harder than what I have.

whether it will be louder or not is all relative. I'm gonna say no because 2 10s have more surface area to move more air. how much louder will the 2 10s be? couldn't tell you. i like audioque amps. as whether or not to get it would depend on how much it was goin for. might be better for the same price that the Aq was being offered for.

I don't think 2 10s and 1 12 will be that much different to the ear due to surface area. Even with 2 12s vs. 1 12 there is only a theoretical gain in 3db, and that's not even that noticeable. Only difference would be differences in subs, as in comparing a Funkey pup to a JL, there will be noticeable difference in SPL.

So to the OP, I say go with a single 12" ported and wang away.

M class subs get loud, with more power they will come alive. put a good 600-1000wrms to the M-class subs ported and I bet you'll have a totally different listening experience
