Looking into first Credit Card

np did not say talking to a financial adviser was wrong by any means they can lead you in a good direction, but in my experience there advice seems to lack the real world experiences but they will lead you in a good direction though ..

i got a credit card when I first turned 18 from capital one and I just opened another savings account at my bank so whenever I buy something with my credit card I can just transfer money into a savings account and pay off the bill every month.
Good idea. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif...that is actually the best way to do it. one way even better is get a card with rewards too.

if you pay it of every couple months that wont help credit score. you need to keep some balance on there. maxed out is bad nothing on it is bad. leave some balance remaining. multiple cards with little amounts= increase in credit. thats what my aunt said. she is some loan proccesor at our local bank. sometime only having 100 dollars on one and paying interest builds credit. but anytime you are building credit you are usually spending more money than you need to.
You are wrong and your aunt is stupid. Carrying a balance doesn't increase your score. Yes, paying interest on $100 builds credit...and so does paying off the $100 at the end of the statement period.

ohh thats something you never want to do is cancel a CC it can cost you more than its worth .. let me dig my agreement and see what it entails
wrong again. It may have some adverse effects on your score...but not really. I sign up for cards, get the interest deal, and then cancel them after I use them.

Credit cards are the Devil.
no

is a secured credit card through your bank? also whats the difference between secured and unsecured btw thank you to all those helping me cause after looking at all this stuff it gets pretty confusing.
stupid, broke people get secured credit cards.

someone up there said if u pay off the balance it dosent help your credit score is that true?
that is false

Incorrect. It shows you are responsible for the debts you take upon yourself, raising your score.
Finally good info

i am 19 and have a credit score of 760 i must be doing something right ...
i am calling you out....and 760 isn't that good....but good at 19, i guess.

My post wasn't directed at you specifically. I was just generally saying that a car audio forum isn't the best place to seek financial advice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Depends who you ask...

what do you younger guys that are basically doing the same thing as me think about this card? https://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/cardDetail.do?screenID=911 seems to be what i was looking for and then id get a gas card for gas only.
not bad i like the good GPA incentives i am not a college student so i dont have any cards like that i do have a couple rewards cards and i like those incentives like i said before IMO you cant go wrong with Citi

I'd be ashamed to buy something with that goofy *** card lol. GPA rewards. Rewards for paying your bill on time.

Thats like giving you a reward for breathing, its shit your supposed to do.

you quoted me a few times saying i was stupid and then wrong but both the ones u quoted was me asking questions as to what other people had posted. in your opinion what do you think the first credit card i should get is? im 19 with no previous credit score and will mainly use it to pay rent, gas, and food with the hopes of being paid off every month.

No...it was that zach guy. You are okay. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I like capital one. I actually got it as my first card and it was easy to get for first time borrowers. I now use discover because of the rewards, but i'd jump ship in a moment if another CC company offered me a better deal. I don't take use CS very often, so i can't rate that very well.

If you pay off the balance at the end of the month, apr doesn't matter. Mine can be 5,000,000,000,000% for all I care. I care about rewards and grace period. If you plan on carrying a balance, then APR should be a concern.

lmao.
I suppose a car audio forum isn't always the best place to seek advice on car audio, either... depending on who you ask //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
haha

I know nothing of audio....a small, small bit on finance. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

its already been stated... and i am proud as a 19 yr old of my credit score 760, that was 4 months ago im sure its a little better now i have never had an account in default not one time with 5 credit cards

I just started college, two semesters now and i'm in about 5g worth of debt already. When i first got my cc, i said to myself, i'm gonna be hella responsible and use it for emergency only. Well next you know, i was swiping the card for every little thing and using cash for major stuff but that little stuff adds up quick! Don't get a cc....best advise i can give.

Why are you proud of not having an account in default? That piques my curiosity. Are you suggesting that you are above your peers because you are able to pay on time? I am not knocking you, because you are doing the responsible thing. I just don't see doing the right thing as a basis for self-promotion.

It's all about discipline. i don't reccomend cc's for those who are undisciplined. some are, some ain't...nothing wrong with paying with cash.
