Looking into first Credit Card

i hate credit cards. i have two now. one is a gas card that i dont even use and the other is a best buy card with 0% for 18 months. and the item i bought is like $85 away from being paid off. best buy 0% programs are the way to go. especially if you pay a lot every month. i bought my tv and computer that way.

imo go ask your parents about credit cards. once i spoke to my dad about them i had a new found hate for them. you'll either follow there footsteps or do the complete opposite of them. thats how it has worked for me.

thats the thing i already have a tv, xbox, laptop, desktop, car, and plenty of money in the bank so its not like im going out to get a card to buy a bunch of big ticket items that i wont be able to pay off. i just want it to be able to pay off rent for the year adn then pay off the balence as i can as well as gas like i said. I might get a best buy card as well to get a tv if i get a good enough job but i would concsider myself very responsible with my money because i know the value of money very well.

is a secured credit card through your bank? also whats the difference between secured and unsecured btw thank you to all those helping me cause after looking at all this stuff it gets pretty confusing.

they have the brochures at the bp gas pumps with all the info on the cards at the one i go to.
yea next time i go im gonna grab one. i was thinking about a shell one but bp makes a lot more sense since its always cheaper at bp, however there are more shell so both have pros and cons. I think maybe a gas only cc like the bp and then the citi one for rent and food might be the way i want to go.

yea the sarcasm is far from needed.
Im 20 years old and have 3 cards, and guess what I have a higher credit score than most ( when I bought my Honda I got the Ultra-Preferred rate, which is the highest given )

If you read the thread he's not charging them because he can't afford them, he's doing it for the same reason I did when I turned 18 build credit.

If you live within your means, however you pay for whatever you do its not gonna cost you anything. It's when you charge stuff thinking you can pay for it later is when you get in trouble.
clearly you guys are just too sensitive. my first post said "dont get it unless you are super super responsible". and i said just be careful that its easy to get into huge debt.

they he said he was using it on gas, food, and rent which are all things that are very expensive, and again i said be careful it will be easy to rack up a huge bill.

i hardly see where i was telling him not to get it and that it was a bad idea, just told him to be cautious.

calm down there sunshine.

after reading the BP one, it accumulates interest everyday from what I understand. Kinda gay. 30-60-90 ftw, revolving ftl

well the shell one didnt look that stellar either. maybe just 1 secured cc for me. Idk the citi platinum for students looks pretty good. i wanna go and get a shell and bp card pamphlet as well

i have never paid any interest charge on any credit card i own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif interest rates are not applicable if you balance is paid off every month //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

i was raised if you dont have the money dont get it plain and simple. I see to many horror stories with cc it makes me not even want to think about getting one.
By that principle, no one should ever take a loan out for a new business, home, or car. The economy would be in shambles if it weren't for loans.

Get a credit card ASAP. It really doesn't make much of a difference what you use. Get something with rewards that you can use. Don't get into debt with it and you will build your credit for free.
