So im lookin to get my first Credit Card. I am a student and i know there are cards out for students and some are better then others. I dont travel so i dont want the mileage shit i was looking at Mastercard and the one i found that is the best that ive seen is the Citi Platnum select for students. Anyone else have any info? im looking for a point in the right direction

I never accepted credit cards when i was in college.

When i got out of college, if you really want a credit card that is universal and with a low rate, go to your bank and inquire about one.

They'll usually give you one with free APR for 1 year then after that, the rate is still considerably low.

I'd say unless you are super super responsible dont do it. its easy to keep swiping and pay that 18 or 26 dollar minimum a month and before you know it ur 6-10g's in debt.......

Im not going to use this and just run up a huge bill. It will mainly be for gas, rent, and food. Everything else i will pay with cash.
gas, rent, food...... that is all stuff that is super expensive these days...... i see huge debt in your future.

Im pretty responsible. Ive been paying all my own bills since i was 16 so i know im not gonna run up nearly that much of a bill. If i got over 2 grand id cut it up.

uhmm.... to get a homeloan you need credit, the way u establish credit is to have a credit card. get w\e deal u can with lowest interestrate ie. 0% for 6months. when ur close to that 6month mark look for a new card, payoff the old one. this way u have 0% always and your credit goes up as you pay cards off

well you dont know me so i wouldnt say that, but i plan on paying it off every couple of months or any time it gets more than 1500 and trying to get a good credit score so that i can take out loans and such

i love my Citi card i would suggest the unsecured shell MC no sign up fee no annual fee 5% rebates back on gas and 2% rebate on other purchases with a 0% introductory rate for the fist 6 months and my APR after that was only 8.99% started with a $1000 credit line wich can be increased every 6 months in $500 intervals great company IMO never had troubles great customer service the one time first time i called them got a FINe sounding girl and she gave me her personal number if i had any more problems .... im pleased ... i have several other cards but i like Citi the best also have heard Chase is the worst CC out there but dont know personally .. hope that helps..

yea i have very good self control tho. I know that you can get into trouble FAST, but i dont think i would ever do that i worry about money way too much for that. I have a full scholarship for school so its not like i have any debt right now and id like to start workin on my credit score and i think i can handle it, but i like the idea of saving money and using a credit card then paying most of it off every month or so.

Ive personally been considering a BP card so i can get $25 free in gas after XX gallons..
i was thinking of getting that or a shell card, but bp is usually much cheaper in my area. and the main thing ill be using it for is gas since i get 9 miles a gallon in my truck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
