looking for running advice

alright so it's not cramps and couldn't be acid buildup, im pretty sure it's in my muscle. yea i did push my limits, was testing as if i were in a boxing match, every lap i was like ok theres one round can i go another? after lap 10 i just wanted to see if i could keep going lol. ended up stopping from boredom there wasn't any pain during the actual running. i looked around and found sources that say beginner runners might be sore for up to 3 even 4 days after running. but im going on 7 and the pain hasn't lessened at all. i've even gotten to where i make weird sideways leg movements when standing up from a sitting position to avoid the pain in the calves lol. i'll give it a few more days and if nothin im seein a doc, but hopefully it gets better.

You may want to go see a doctor if your condition does not improve in the next few days. I've had some pain from running in my legs for several days before, but nothing as bad as you have described.

Really the best advice is seedubs post. So make sure your icing and all that jazz.

alright i stopped drinkin all pop, when i got the "craving" to drink some i grabbed a glass of water and slammed that shit. im up to about 20 glasses a day and i've never felt so refreshed. when i woke up today i didn't feel any pain in legs at all, i guess being hydrated is a #1 for working out lol. especially endurance type workouts. im sticking to 20-30 min jogs from now on screw 2 hrs starting off.

Did not read all the replies but when I have been MIA for a while I just start off with a few miles even walking or very light jogging at first and after a few days push myself a little more and see how I do and keep doing it to the point where I am getting things moving and pushing myself but not overtraining.

If you actually stick with it you will be doing 7 miles in no time, its not something that will be done in a week but give it 2-3 months and you should be seeing huge improvements if you stick with it.

alright guys last friday i went to the park and to see if i had it in me i ran 14 laps, which comes to 7 miles. i averaged 4 min a lap and since then my legs especially my calf muscles have been in pain. it's been 6 days and tonight i tried going again but only managed 1/2 mile before i had to stop. just by walking my legs cramp up and hurt like none other so i end up limping like a little gimp *****. i've tried eating potatoes and banannas for the potassium, any ideas how to help them heal faster?
edit: oh yea and i've been streching daily to no benefits

Don't hate me for this but i GOTTA call BS on the 4min mile. for reasons below. I mean if you can run a 4min mile you should have been in the olympics year after year and won ALL golds. But hey I may be wrong but id put monies on it that im not......

Uh.....that comes to 8 minute miles. Each lap is 1/2 mile, so 4 minutes per lap comes to 8 minutes per mile.

Not bad especially for someone that hasn't been running, but definately not blazing fast.

Sounds like a lot of crap to me. 7 miles @ 8 minutes a mile sounds pretty dam good to me. Not great, but good enough that you should not be asking ca.com questions.

But if you are just starting out congrats on being in pretty good shape. Preserve your body you will need it. You don't have much of a mind to work with.

No, it's not blazing fast. But considering that it was for 7 miles I agree it's pretty dam good.
