can i get an idmax for $300 or less? I had heard it was less sq and more spl than the idq...
I've got a tahoe an putting a 13" w6 with 600 watts to it.what do you think of the w6 and the idq you have versus the peerless you recommended or any other the others mentioned (SI Mag, Dayton, Fi Q)
425 will be plenty to get an Idmax to sound good. Anymore power and it's going to drown out the front, which would be the opposite of what this guy wants. Heck 200 watts to any of the subs mentioned will be enough to blend with the front. I don't understand why people think a woofer needs massive amounts of power to sound good (being loud doesn't sound good). Look at the SQ competitiors, how much power is the sub actually seeing in the time of judgment???......My vote goes to the new Mag. Just because I want one.425 watts really wont do the IDMax justice anyways.
Look at the Peerless XXLS Autosound, and Peerless XLS 830500 models.
Also I have an SSA Icon for sale as well, and 425wrms would get it moving pretty well.
You're absolutely right that it doesn't take much constant power to drive a proper SQ sub setup but you have to consider the vehicle. If he takes one of these subs and throws it in a small sealed enclosure and tucks it away somewhere and only gives it about 200 watts, his dynamics are going to be very suppressed and output will be limited, especially in the very bottom end.425 will be plenty to get an Idmax to sound good. New Mag or old one. If you mean the old one, you have an interesting idea of what SQ is. If you mean the new one, you haven't heard one yet so you should just shut up, k?I would add SI Mag to the list, better SQ than any sub you mentioned by far.
Fi Q isn't really an SQ sub, overrated at best, as is the IDQ.
Dayton Reference is a great option for the price.
IF mags and SQ are interesting, why are they so well touted for their sound quality?New Mag or old one. If you mean the old one, you have an interesting idea of what SQ is. If you mean the new one, you haven't heard one yet so you should just shut up, k?
And if you think IDQ's are overrated, you might want to explain that to all the SQ judges that have been giving them top nods in the SQ lanes for over a decade now.
Do you always speak without thinking?
I always recommend the SI Mag due to the TS specs. However, I have never heard one, just a couple of the V3's Mags, that sounded killer and this is not the highly touted SQ sub in the Mag v4. It does look killer and efficent. Thing is, unless you had something to do with building it, or testing it out, then you have never heard one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif So right there assuming you have not had one sent to you by Nick the owner or somehow you are over in China building it, you are full of shit!Audioholic, no need to be rude, I hope you are this friendly in the real world. Regardless, making assumptions about mine or anyone else's experience on this forum is foolish, and I would've expected more from someone with nearly 10,000 posts.
Opinions differ and that is what hrearden22 asked for. I have been an SQ judge for over 7 years and have heard many IDQs and even voted for some to win.
However, the older and newer SI Mags (I have heard them both, so I feel the liberty to "write" about it) are better than the IDQ in SQ.
One last note, when you "write" something, you aren't actually speaking...
