Looking at picking up a bass guitar.....

Just made a small sketchup for the amp's sub boxes. Its 1.5 cubes at 45 htz, supposed to be for 2 12s. For subs ill probably just see what i can get locally or ebay. Ill be making two of these.

Going to make the cuts now, assemble tomorrow.

the bass in that vid is i believe a schecter elite 5 string. basically you can get that sound out of any bass....but its going to be hard to play stuff like korn without that 5th b string and/or without downtuning.

and about that dean. i cant say from personal experience how that one plays and sounds but mine is built very well and sounds great.

So i used to play bass a while back with some friends, but I quit recently. Sold my bass as well. Recently i just found out I have a friend that can play the drums pretty well, so im wanting to start playing again. But ive got some questions. First, I've got my eye on a couple local ones, but im open to whatever you guys can suggest. The first one is a 4 string Yamaha, I've always been a fan of their stuff, and i like the guitar too. Its 150.00 and seems to be in good shape, i picked it up and had a look quick, but thats it. The other is a brand that i can't seem to remember ATM, but its something like Frederline i think. Its 125.00, i like it too, its really small and light compared to the Yamaha, which is ****ing gigantic and long. It was in a little worse shape, but its cheaper. Both are 4 strings.

Are these decent prices? I have an amp, but its really small so i'll probably just hook it up to my HT when i practice.

Are these good guitars overall? As i said i played before, and in the school band for awhile, so im not a total noob, but im not a guru either. I know Yamaha makes pretty good stuff, so im not worried about that. Also what other brands should i look into? As far as a budget im wanting to spend no more than 150.00, new or used, it doesnt matter. Its just for me to play, not to rock out on a concert stage or anything. Also it has to be electric, and im a big guy so size or weight doesnt matter much. I only played a 4 string before, so no 5 strings.

Neither of those are really great bass', but they will do as a beginner depending on the music you want to play.

I listen to soft metal mostly, Korn, Atreyu, Three Days Grace, Disturbed etc.
I notice most of Korn is slap style correct? Thats when you smack the string with your thumb? When i played all i did was walk the string with my index and middle finger, i didnt expiriment with other styles much.

I probably can't do a 5 string because unfortunately my fingers are a bit short.

I dont want to spend more than that budget because its just a hobby of sorts, i dont need a really expensive one. If I really get in it then ill invest some real money.
You're gonna want a 5 string bud. That style music just doesnt sound right on a 4 string.

Ill do the shameless pic for everyone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
