Lookin for a first system, any suggestions?

So, I got a decent amount of money around $1500, but not looking to spend it all, actually looking to spend about $500. The rest is being saved, gonna buy a bike soon. Anyway, what to you all suggest for the best system for around $500, and whats your take on refurbished amps.. any good? This would be including box, subs, amp, and wires.

My car is a 2000 Maxima SE, with stock BOSE installed.

Dont know how much bass you want but a nice 10 inch sealed box with about 250-450 watts going to it would be nice sub well can be anything from a Rockford fosgate to a jl but its all about money let me know what car you have and I can give you an accurate guide of what I would get.

Scrap the $500 price limit, get a nice used SAZ3000 for $650ish in the classifides, then a Mach 5 SPL 15" , Nightshade 15" or DD9515 ...

It depends on what oyu want. Ridiculous bass, or a nice clean flat response. (A flat response is when everything is balanced, not the lows incredibly loud while the mids / highs are ridiculously low.)

Well im not looking for anything crazy, just a decent system that doesn't have to be ridiculously loud setting off car alarms like a blocks away. enough so it sounds good and the music i listen to is a mixture of rock and rap/hip-hop

I think your $500 budget is low, honestly a decent deck will cost you ~$200.

What I think you should is this.

Do a crap load of research and buy all the components one at a time. Then research some more then buy the next piece.

My stuff may not all be top of the line, but i took my time with the install and I doubt anyone here could find anything wrong with my install that they could diss. All the things listed in my sig were bought at minimum a month or so apart.

That way you wont find yourself overwhelmed with the install and will allow you to make smart decisions and do everything right the first time.

barf- that is pure crap - DUAL subs, give me a break - do not buy that crap.

Look through the stores that are on the front end of this website for the deals - craigslist is gonna be hard cuse you dont know anything and they hype up the crappiest subs more than anything.

alpine type r with an alpine mrp-m500 amp (matches perfect)...build your own custom box (much cheaper and you can make it to the specs you want) and a pioneer HU like the dehp3000ib or dehp4000ub and wiring kit off http://www.knukonceptz.com

X2. If your gonna get a system do it right the first time. Don't just get by with one, and have to buy again three months later. I can do it under 5. Take a pick, Pyle, pyramid, or roadmaster? I just don't see it possible to buy everything including wires and the equipment. I just don't. And please don't buy those Pyle subs, I can fart better tones than that...
