Largest Install you've seen...Or loudest daily

I think it's unfair to not consider walls.
Lots of people, including tons on this forum, have walls in their daily drivers.

"I can throw a wall in anything and be loud"

^^^Prove it. It's not as easy as you make it sound.
x2.. walls dont mean that your automaticaly 5db's higher LOL..

i had a regular box, non-wall, doing 147.5 sealed up, 148.5 window down. went to a wall... 148.8 sealed up, 149.9 window down.. not that big of a difference, this was all TL on the dash. wall was 9cf, box was 7.5cf... if i could fit a 9cf "box" non-wall i would of been doing the same numbers... does that mean i fcked up building my wall? idk, but i know i didnt completely seal it off to the sides of the cab and the roof (defeating the purpose of a wall )...

so walls dont make you loud. a good designed box (whether wall or not) will make you loud.

oh, Gmonks van is probably the biggest daily ive seen, and probably the loudest.

loudest i heard was 4 12" t2s powered by a t40001 in a old cherokee

focals for the mids 3 pairs of focal v2 front stage and 2 pairs 4" v2 comps rear fill

off 3 pdx 150.4 amps deck was a alpine d310

i found the front stage sounded well enough...not tuned to my personal preference but definetly had good potential

the bass however wasn't too great...box was horrible and way too small for 4 12s or any kind

but still got reasonably loud

my favorite setup by far was 2 12" 9500s in a g35 coupe powered by 2 of those mtx 1200w amps of the bose deck...shows pretty much what you get out of a good solid build

they sounded good enough to the point i didnt even care wether they were 15s or not //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

"daily" should be.. 4 people should be able to ride in car or truck, unless it is a 2 seater from the factory. And a trip to the grocery store should not involve removing stereo equipment to make room! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
yeah, okay

I disagree homie. - daily = not a trailer queen. id drive my car daily if the company i worked for didnt provide a vehicle....

Does Tommy McKinney count? I've been in his truck and it is totally streetable{very heavy though) and plays full range music. He drives it around in FL. He did trailer it to Bama when i saw it so i guess it would be debateable:crap:.
can be driven (last i heard) but it gets trailored around..

I dont think a wall has a place in a daily. My opinion though. I can throw a wall in anything and be loud. But you have just lost 1/2 of your cabin space for what? Bass? Id rather see a clean, well thought out LOUD install any day of the week over any wall.
I have seen some very weak setups in walls bro, it doesnt automatically mean loud. I never drive people around anyway because all of my friends have cars....

Wow cant believe this hasnt been said.... RANDYS VAN aka THE ASStro!
I'd have said it, but ive never seen it.

18s = Overrated.
I disagree //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You are telling me(at least on the meter) I am just flirting with 152's and I ripped TWO holes all the way through the metal on my roof even with 2 layers of fatmat up there!!! Had to be welded. and then added two more layers and ripping again. Going to have to do a wood roof. That is the only reason I have to run modex in meca. I think you should be able to do thicker roof in meca for reg mod lol. I am biased I suppose. But that is the ONLY thing that keeps me from running mod class and it is from doing what meca is designed for. loud daily systems.. Oh well sighs... I am afraid to put my new amps in till I redo the roof
What kind of car?

I have a similar problem in the neon

oh yeah. back to orig topic... Ummm mckinney... But as somebody said not sure if daily(full range music though) Rio's door tricked side. Also hank and his astro with 12 15's. Out of the 3. Hank. But that is just my opinion so dont get all pissy
Frankie drives that car to shows......hell he showed up at Florida State Finals with a flat...

something is definately a miss if it takes 8 12" L7's to play 150's
not if its tuned to 20 hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I think he had it tuned to 30hz. I remember on Young Joc's "I know you see it" his entire cab was flexing enormously. Like half the parking lot gravitated to his truck. He was setting off car alarms 2 rows over. He was shooting for a 158 on a burp IIRC.

Hey, Im building a wall and will still have seating for a pile of people. Gotta love a 20 foot long hearse.
lol @ hearse

here is a pic of my old car after the new owner re did it (wish I would have taken more pics). It has 8 -12 and a killer amp rack and 8" center channel. Inside it pretty trick even by todays standards. around 2001-2002 it used to be driven from Van Wert to Cincy for college. It had 5 memphis sync 8's (now only 3 as they took out the 2 by the subs) 12 mc-300 amplifiers. 1 bridged to each front Sync 8, 1 bridged to each sub and 1 ran stereo to the rear. It could play to 153 db for a long time to music on both the TL and AC 170. This is in a 1987 forula firebird.

.

1997 mountaineer (explorer) had two 91 explorers and those things metered great. hell I had 6 12' audiobahns with 1000 clamped watts doing almost same numbers I am doing with 2k clamped and 8 12 RE SE's> the current setup is WAY louder to ear..... you know thinking about it. there was one major difference in this setup vs the other two. I left the massive center console in. Wonder how many db that could affect me? I doubt more than a few tenths on the meter, if possible more. guess what is coming out .. bye bye center console

I'm working on a 10-sub van right now.

It will be a demo, but daily drivable. We will drive it to shows, planning on making the trip to Scrapin the Coast in it this June.

I will actually be at the shop all day tomorrow working on it.

I say bonecrushers van is pretty gnar.or maybe steve cooks van.

or what about pipo's sealed soundstream truck ;]
Cooks van is the loudest and biggest install i've personally been in. But it is not at all daily or even streetable. It has fixed suspension and was totally weighted down with concrete, batts and amps, when it was together.

bob perillo--9 15's, 18 SS 10K amps, has done a 164 for bass race

Steve Mick--8-18's, 16 SS 2000D's, done a 162 bass race

Eric Alexander, Randy Kubek

My sig that i am currently working on:cool:

Being a daily vehicle is in the eye of the beholder. As long as its street legal, i say its daily.

I personally like walls in daily drivers as long as it's all flushed in and the only reason I like it is because I like the way it looks. It's not just your normal square box in the trunk or cargo area.
