Hi guys. I have a question. So I just got this sub installed: http://car.rainbow-audio.de/products/details.php?lan=2&pro=2&lin=16&art=231480 and got a Diamond Audio D3 3400.2 amp to power it. I had an installer do it and I'm pretty sure that it is bridged. Now this is all connected to my stock BOSE system (I know it sucks). It does not have a dedicated sub pre-out but the rca jacks where spliced into the wires behind the unit. IT is a 2001 Nissan Maxima. Thing is I find the bass a little too boomy especially for a sealed box. During fast drum beats like a double beat or something, sometimes it is a little sloppy and just too boomy and not that hard for my taste. Now does any1 know anything about this sub from Rainbow? I tihnk it should be pretty good, so could it be because of my shitty BOSE headunit. I am thinking of upgrading the headunit now, but do you guys think it would help the sub hit harder and omre accurate, as opposed to just boomy? By boomy I mean during some sounds there just loud pressure sound and the individual beats are hard to distinguish. What do you guys think is the culprit? What should I expect from this sub? Thanks evreyone. Also the gain on the amp is about half-way. Could that be a problem?

I have no idea lol. It came with the box. Check the link in the first post under technial data it says "36 Litres." The enclosure was made by the company that makes the sub so I'm assuming they built it to spec.

thanks buddy. I didn't think of it. But I am thinking of just changing the headunit to one of the pioneers that are coming out. Do you think that would fix the problem?

Definately get a new headunit, my friend used a LOC for his Infiniti I30's Bose system and the bass was still sloppy as hell... After installing a new headunit, it was 100x better...

Cool, thanks. So everyone agrees that getting a new headunit would def. help out with the accuracy and punchiness of the bass? Hundreth you said the bass was much better. In what way?

And lastly, what do you guys think of the sub? Any comments?

The bass was much tighter and way more musical. This was on a 12W7 too, night and day difference after putting the new H/U in. It even made those bose speakers sound much better.

oh cool. you even left the bose speakers? Are they amplified just by the headunit, or did you get a seperate amp for them? Even if they are just amped by the Headunit arent you afraid of blowing them? Also did you have to get an adapter to be able to use the bose speakers with the new headunit? Thanks.

Its not my car and I wasn't involved with the install of the headunit, but from what I understand they are still amped using the amp that came with the Bose system. The Bose amp just gets input from the new headunit and it already made a great difference. It doesn't sound like the speakers are being stressed nor does it seem like they would be stressed from the headunit's amp.
