Jlw7 help

A ported box that was 1.9 tuned to 32. Box was made by a jl authorized dealer. They did the gain also. Honestly the one sounded better than the two that what makes me think it's the box. They just charged a pretty penny for it. Thanks for all the help. I'll post a vid tomorrow. I live in a shady apartment building so I do play my stereo around here.

If I were you, I'd take that 1.9 x 2 which would be 3.8 internal volume and find yourself another box builder/designer.
@CSCStang is excellent in this field and he can design and build you a box prob better and cheaper than the shop you had it at.

What is the exact measurements of the enclosure? I'm just seeing if maybe the cu isn't what you say it is but some people thought it was but isn't.
Do W7's like to be tuned low like some of their older subs?

IIRC the last time I built a box for a 12W7 anywhere in the low to mid 30's and 2-3 cube modeled nicely.

Gains not being properly matched could also cause trouble. Do you have a digital multimeter, OP?

JL recommends 1.75 and for good reason that soft suspension unloads very quick and its quite peaky in a larger box. not to mention the larger the port the harder it peaks around tuning and the faster it unloads. i really think he needs to god smaller.

listen good to this woofer on the higer notes on this specific song the output is so low.. classics case of a box to big. the spiders dont have the compliance/stifness and efficiency goes down greatly..

Thanks for all the help. I'm having a hard time uploading a video here for some reason. I'm having a new dual chamber box being built. 1.75 cubic feet per chamber tuned to 35 Hz. When I pic up the box the shop will be checking my gain as well they have an o scope. The box will be about .5 cubic foot smaller so I hope this fixed the problem. Thank you for all your time.

Should have checked the settings first. Your box is fine.

That's a waste of money... Should have just made the box you had alittle smaller first.

lots of arguing on here...lol

Guys ... its simple

Papermaker is correct, the box has a steep roll off above tuning causing a lack of dampening or what some call "unloading"

I get that there is a lot of "bro-science" used in the car audio world but most of the time it can be clearly explained with math and unadulterated facts/acoustic law....

I think you and papermaker missed a few things.

It was good at 1.9

The amps are probably not matched

2.0 after displacement is very close to 1.75.

It will be very peaky mid 40hz range now with hardly no low end.
