JL 12w6 questions

Hi, I just bought 2 12w6's and they came with a JL 500/1 amp. my head unit is an Alpine ida-x305. I was wondering what kind of settings would be recommended on the amp? I'm definitely getting a power booster for my head unit, and a JL 1000/1 very soon, I just want to keep my w6's safe for now. I was also wondering if anyone out there had any experience with this set up(the 2 12w6's with the jl 500/1 amp). any info or suggestions you guys could put out there would be appreciated too, I don't have a lot of experience with these things. I also have a JL 500/1 but I'm running two 12" JL WX's. I'm sure them 12w6's have a higher rms than my WX's do and mine are 250rms.

Anyhow, a good way to go about it is this way...

Turn all the settings on your headunit down to 0 and set your fade/balance to 0. Next, turn your headunit volume up to around 3/4 of it's max. From there, slowly turn up your imput sensitivity (Gain) and do the same with your freq response and bass boost until it sounds good to you. I have my gain set to a little under 3/4 of it's max. No idea what my bass boost is set at but I'm also thinking it's a bit more than 1/2 of max.

Also, your amp should have came with a remote level subwoofer control to mount up front. You can always run a bit more gain or whatever and just tune it to your liking via the remote level control. I hope this helped you out man.

JL Audio also publishes the max voltage you should be seeing at the speakers when connected to the amp. Take your DMM, place it in AC mode and put one lead on each speaker terminal and crank up your favorite, bass filled tune. Observe the voltage, which will jump around as the music plays, and note the highest voltage...if it gets above the max recommended, crank the gain back.
