Is My Sub Output Jacked Up?

Made an observation between yesterday and today while working on my system (switched out a Rockford P8004 with an Eclipse 36501). I have 3 sets of preouts from my 8400 and am currently only using the first pair and one of the sub outs. While running test tones with the Subwoofer Output switched to ON in the HU menu and the gain fully backed off on my amp, I still get a CRAPTON of bass output from the sub. With the SW on OFF in the HU, I'm able to dial in the sub level using the gain control for sub to an appropriate level (just can't adjust it from the HU).

I double and triple-checked the connections on both the amp and HU and things are wired properly. The sub is wired properly both internally and externally. The Eclipse amp only has switch selections for 4ch/5ch and with it selected to 4ch, there's no output from the sub whatsoever.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? The system will work as is, but I feel like something's not right.

look and see if there is a reset button on the deck ,might work
Hmm I'll give that a shot next time I get a chance. Got busted for spending 6 hours working on the system yesterday...The reset button's easy enough to find on the 8400...it's right next to the Source button.

yea he was told a couple of weeks before being shipped tho.he must have thought i was bs ing him when i told him they had to be built ,which jacob confirmed that today.everything was cool until i told him that i'd try to get a rush on them so he could have them by next wed, and that wasn't gonna happen ,he started getting pissed ,all though forgetting about about me telling him 2 weeks before being shipped in the first place .but i'm working on it .dont know what he was thinking ,but i dont scam or burn any one ever .i guess i should have just kept my mouth shut about trying to get them sooner .
You're just doing your best to look out for him and he'll appreciate it in the end. At least for me it'd be a welcome change from the typical "we'll get it when we get it" excuse I've received in the past waiting on equipment. There's a reason you're one of the go-to guys here on ca.com and it's because you have integrity. That shouldn't ever change.

thanks and it wont , i'd like to think that i go above and beyond in a lot of cases

Quick update: I did press the reset key on the HU and still noticed the sub level was heavy. Then I realized after looking in the manual that the sub level at 0 is not sub level fully backed off. Lol it actually goes all the way to -24. So when I get back in the car I'll see if that doesn't help. I'm just curious as to why it wasn't a huge issue with the Rockford amp but it's a show stopper for the Eclipse. Also trying to understand how I have sub output even with the sub switched to off on the HU. I guess time will tell.

Yeah when I set it back to -24, I can barely hear the sub.

And when I switch my sub output to off, it shuts off lol.

I know that doesn't really help you, just felt like throwin it out there. as I have the same HU

Looks like going less than zero did the trick. Fair enough. Now I know that with the sub in phase, I need to be at -5 and with phase reversed, I can max it out. Still trying to find a happy middle...
