Is my sub ALREADY blown or is it my box?

You should have double checked that box.
For now instead of ordering a new box just take that bish apart and use the wood to throw together a diff ported box or even a Sealed box. That would be one way to see if the sub still makes the sound at high volume.

Also, check those VC's and make sure each one still reads 1.5. Another thing, do you have that sub wired in series at 3ohm? Because if you have it in parallel it could be at .75 and you could have the gain high enough to clip that thing.
No man that was your sub most likely bottoming out. DO NOT run it anymore in that box. I had a good feeling that box was too big. You measured wrong or something when you built it. If you want, im sure you can still build it to that size with the box you have, you just need to take it apart and trim it and put it back together. Id trim the parts with the glue as much as you can to make it easier to put the box back together. The sub is more than likely still good if its not making noise all the time, its good. Dont worry about it. DO NOT buy a box on ebay.. Resize your current box and you will be happier.
Just use the dimensions from that plan you linked. That will make it alot easier. And remember, measure twice, cut once.

EDIT: By the way, it may not be quite 4 cubes if you didnt subract the port area. But either way, the box is too big and that was the problem. I strongly suggest just resizing the box to the plan you linked.
It's possible you're hearing the sub unloading at high volume from being in such an oversize enclosure.
You're not screwed. You need to find out what the port displacement is and subtract that from 4.2 to find the net volume. JL recommends 2.375cf @ 34.59hz. You can glue some 2x4 blocks inside or wall off a portion of the box to reduce the volume, try to get down to around 2.5cf. Double check the tuning, it'll change when you reduce the volume.

The other option is to start over and use the rec'd box dimensions on JL's website.
The list goes on... maybe you can show a little gratitude/humility, and read the advice that people spent time posting...

exactly my point. i never put in any input to this thread, but once he wanted to come back and say "come on guys you know im right" i got annoyed.

be thankful that the same people are continuing to help you even tho you completely blow it off and have an excuse for what they are telling you is wrong

maybe you were right in your first post, you should give up on subs just a thought:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

cmon guys you know im right.
What exactly are you right about? Nothing in this thread that i can recall. Not sure if your trying to be a douchebag or what. If so, you dont deserve anymore help. Id happily help if it didnt seem as if you were trying to be a smart a*s with that comment. And you basically ignored half the shit people said and was good info.

FWIW I threw the numbers from JL's plan into RE's enclosure calculator and it told me a volume of 2.73cu tuned to about 30Hz. Taking into account driver displacement, it ain't THAT far off. You musta done something way wrong in building it.

He did, im pretty sure he already said that he made his box too big.

westman, that was my whole point. i never saw the original post, from from i heard, U were one the main people to tell this clown what was wrong, along with a few others and once i saw that, it annoyed me. and now he isnt even responding which i find humerous

Well in post #67 of this thread he seems to be saying that JL's plans are wrong and he built it to the exact specs, but I calculated the design at pretty much what the plan says so blaming JL is a little foolish.

seems to me hes one of thse guys who never wants to admit when hes wrong and just blame others. He askes for help and thoughts, and then has a response implying what hes being told is wrong.

When yes, it could be wrong, but in this case he knows hes wrong and just doesnt wanna admit it cuz hes afraid of sounding dumb which after his comment a few posts ago, sounding dumb is out of the question

no i'm not blaming JL's plans. look at the plans I had linked. I haven't played it at all lately. Sub turned to -13 and bass -2. It's just htere for the SQ in that box until I get a measurement to make it smaller. Look at the link I had for "2.5 Cubic foot box" I built it exacly to it.
