My question is coming from some worries i have of the sub blowing.

So since the cones made with kevlar does that make it more durable than say.....PAPER???

I have 1,000 watt sony xplod amp with 350wrms at 2 ohms and if i have all my gains set with the meter and everythings connected right could i blow it by OVERPOWERING???

thanks guys.

You shouldn't fear blowing the R's with that amp.... with the gains properly adjusted of course. Just be easy on the volume!!!

Nice post haha. anyways, just adjust your gains and set everything up correct and you'll be straight.

I wonder if even a clipped 350watts would be enough to blow it...i doubt it

Thats still pretty far under the rms....but anything is possible

I had a pca2000d on my 15 for a while....only got smelly after about 4-5 songs full tilt

The coils are good for some power on these.

I had an older version running at 1000 watts all day long, and it held up fine, minus the surround coming unglued from the cone, but that was an easy fix.

You kidding??? That R won't even move with that amp. Mine laughed at 1200rms all day. No smell, not even close to full excursion.

lol. you can send them a clipped 600 watt signal all day. they can take 1500 clean watts daily without seeing problems. on burps they can take what ever. my 15'' R was on 8k for burps and its still in one piece.

I would consider a more powerful and better quality amp since you blew the 600rms Infinity subs with the same amp. Sounds like you drove the Xplod amp into clipping trying to make it louder. The Type-R's handle at least 1500rms of clean power. Which amp is it?
