If you had actually looked through the forum or tried to use our often overlooked search function you might have eventually run across this thread. It just happens to be a stickied thread dedicated purely to Alpine's Type R subwoofer and currently has over 2,600 replies.

As I do not care one whit about the Type R I haven't read it myself but I'll wager any question you might have about said driver is addressed within...

It is a decent sub, greatly beloved and hated, and greatly overhyped as the official sub of Jesus. I think they are bland one note wonders that do little more than "get loud" personally- but I have seen the light of true SQ subs and like it.

I like mine. Put in a right ported enclosure they def hit. I dont think for the price there is a better sub really

a TS-W3004/2SPL can be had for the same price on eBay. I hear it has better SQ and gets almost as loud as the Hype-R

I'd say it's a great sub and I plan on putting up good numbers with them. If you want SPL for cheap, you cannot beat the Type-R's.
