is a type R a good or bad sub

id say that there a great middle of the road subwoofer....its between your walmart setupts and your sony xplods but no where near your higher class drivers

and just like everyone else said...great bang for the buck

I disagree about the statement that they're no where near higher class drivers. In SQ, yes, they don't really stand a chance, but in SPL, no.

It's all in the install.

i tried 2 12" type-r's for a few days in the box i had for my type-x's, and i didn't think they sounded bad at all.

they're definitely not very sensitive, tho, even compared to a type-x. just make sure you have a lot of power.
