The new ones have a bit better signal strength, better battery life, fast internet speeds, and bigger capacity's. If I were you I would get the newest one.

Also I would never ever go back to sprint or nextel. I wont even go to cingular I am sticking with my verizon.

I have the 3g version now 8gig and was reading today they plan on launching the new version of the phone next month. man I hope thats not true because I just bought this version.

Quick Pwn, winpawn, Just you tube iphone jailbraking I have had my Iphone jail broken for 3 years now, I'v rejail broken it 5 times no problem....the 3g's are alittle bit tricker but it does work...Iphones do not have video viewing apps you have to get it from cydia
Btw if you upgraded you 3g to the new version in the past 3 months don't even bother jail braking. It will just lock up your phone and you have will have to pay a big *** fee, Apple just put this in to stop jailbrakers from not using at&t service and going with another carrier

Apple needs to get there shit togather and make a real MMS app not this swirly MMS shit

Dammit. I remember hearing stuff about this. Can someone who is more credible chime in and tell me if this is true or not? It doesn't really matter anyway since I'm going to get a new one with the manufacturer's defects going on with mine. Then I'm going to sell it and buy the new phone that is coming out...

Jailbreaking and unlocking the carrier are two different things. Jailbreaking can be accomplished by rolling back your firmware.

I am on 2.2.1 and have no locking up issues. I have the video capture app through cydia already. I was asking was there any info on whether the 3.0 firmware would have that feature.

I'm on 2.2.1(5H11) and I jailbroke mine. I did not unlock it yet (I was scared to) but I believe you have to downgrade the baseband to 2.28 from 2.30

what is the difference between an iphone and an itouch aside from the obvious phone capabilities.

from what ive read , both have apps , web browsing , and jailbreak-able...

im with the rest and id like to get an iphone but im staying with tmobile but they only have the G1 (hate the slide over to expose keyboard shit).

Rumors are saying 3.0 will have vid capture, but the current iPhone camera sucks anyways. I've also heard they are supposed to upgrade the camera on the new phone so we'll see I guess.

I'll probably be selling my 16GB Touch soon and getting a new gen. My 4-year-old is addicted to YouTube and takes my iPhone the second I walk in the door because of the built in speaker. He's an electronics junkie just like me.

ummm, no. mine is up to date and jail broken. only thing i cant do is unlock it to use with other networks which you mention but everything works fine, but that was my mistake. you can just restore your iphone back to factory settings in a jiffy
