I'm new and looking for advice based on my budget.

Understood ID, I wasn't too keen on buying them from an unauthorized seller. Thanks for the input.

Now, if you guys could post some suggestions/opinions of my previous post?

Originally, that was why I was afraid to go 6.5". I am a noob and don't know how to do that, but I realized that I can extend my budget for installation. I realized that I have more spending money than I originally thought.
Hypothetically, if I was to get the parts i've listed below, what else would I need and what would installation cost approx.? (you don't need to be spot on, but I don't know if we are talking $100 or $500.

HU: $130.00 + Shipping

ID Set: $180.00 (FREE SHIPPING)

Kicker Amp: $225.00 + Shipping

Wiring: (Do I need to buy this?) $60.00 + Shipping

Total: $595.00 + shipping + installation

Seeing this, and as I said, I realized I have more spending money, I may be able to bump up the set a little bit... perhaps some suggestions? (Not looking to add more than $50 to that total)
There's not a whole lot you could do with an extra $50 there. The only real upgrade would possibly be going to a higher level ID set, and you'd be looking at way more, afaik. Mostly what you'd need is to be saving for a set of sub/subs and an amplifier for them.

And good choice - don't get them from an unauthorized dealer -.-

If I had to guess, I'd probably say between $100-$200 for the installation of the 6.5" components. As a rough guess - but don't take it for much by any means. The rest could be done by you, or for a little bit more added on. That'll be most of the work there in the components.

what plutoman said sounds about right. if you took it all to a shop to install look at about 35-40 for deck, 100-200 for speakers and running wires to amp and maybe 80 to install the amp. most of this you can do yourself like the deck since the sony is already there it should be a matter of matching colors with the new kenwood harness and putting in the chasis for the deck. since u plan on upsizing i'd let a shop do that for the speakers. and the amp you could also do all that is required is running the power wire from bat to trunk or whereever ur mounting the amp, running rca's and remote wire from deck and then the speaker wires to the speakers.

now the question you need to ask yourself is "do i plan on upgrading in the future?" if so then maybe you should plan ahead now. for example instead of one set of rcas run all 3 sets now that way you won't have to worry about it later. and depending on the amp(s) you plan on running you may want to go bigger wire. or just get a different amp now like this one

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=365091&highlight=image+dynamics+amp

it being a 4 channel you could run the ctx65cs off the front two and bridge the back to for a 10 or even 12. and if you don't plan on a 10 or 12 anytime soon you could brigde the 4 channel to two channels and just feed the ctx's off of it and control the gain and volume to a moderate level.

Thank you very much horsemanwill.

I think i've decided that I will not upgrade the stuff I plan on buying at the moment. The only thing I plan on doing in the future is adding two 12" subs, and an amp to support them. Is this something that should change what i'm currently looking to buy?

yes imo it would. you say you plan on adding 2 12s and another amp so most likely you'll want an amp that has good output. which will most likely require you to change your power wire size. but i could be wrong i've ran plenty of systems with just 4 ga wire as my main power. but now adays power usually requires 4 gauge just going to the amp itself. if that's the case you may want to change from 4 gauge to maybe 2gauge or even 1/0. and as i said since you plan on adding an amp you should go ahead and run all 3 sets of rca's back that way you won't have to pull the deck out again to run another set.

With the $50. gets some dynamat and deaden the doors well.

Thanks again horseman, i'll look into it.

As for dynamat, i'll save that for later.

I also got a very helpful PM from Brahman, who said this... "the 4 gauge wiring kit u were looking at would work fine but u need a distribution block to change it from 4 gauge to 8 @ ur amp..."

In laments terms, what does this mean?

that's something i overlooked. what he's saying is the power wire will not fit in the amp's power input. that that amp takes 8 gauge wire. so a d block, distrobution block, will take the 4 guage wire and let you put smaller wire in. such as 8 guage. or you could just get a reducer, 4 guage to 8 guage i'm sure if you search around you'll see some in woofers if not i know there are some on ebay just search 4gauge reducer.

A statement, I'm saying now u got more money buddy. I kept looking at that price and I knew online had it cheaper. I'd stay with that kickass I'd component set and save the extra dough for some subs and a sub amp. And your welcome always like to help.
