I'm hooking up 3 type r alpine 12 inch subs

lol we are talking about 3 Alpine Type R's are we you guys are suggest in 2000 3000 watt amps for these subs they will get plenty loud on 1000 to 1500 watts RMS personally I wouldn't run anything over 1500 Watts unless you plan on getting alternator

agreed with the high output alt and that the type rs do get loud on 500 rms, but they do get a fair bit louder with 1k on them. Just have a feeling op wants loud as balls lol.

one question op, what kind of enclosure do you plan on putting them in and do you have the space to fit proper ported boxes for them?

it's not going to be that easy to get alot of bass out of a trunk but it is possible

put your same system in a hatch or SUV and it'll be a lot louder purely from vehicle accoustics.

What do you want to spend on subs? There's probably 1,000 different options. Personally I'd run 2 15's instead of 3 12's. They're going to take up around the same space (7-8 cubes or so) and you'd get off cheaper. So first off what are your goals? More SPL or SQ? Or maybe a combination of both? What kind of music do you listen to?
