doesnt a low pass filter take the lows away and leaves just highs? my amp for subs has a LPF and off and now is set to LPF. Please dont flame.

that would be correct. your thinking of a High Pass Filter (HPF)

ok thanks for the responces I have always been confused about it. At first I thought that LPF was for subs, then I thought that Low Pass mean that it passed them and only kept the highs:

they ARE for subs (LPF) ........the block out highs.
