I need a 3-4" Mid/High speaker that likes being crossed @ 1k or higher

It does look like a good speaker, but people seem to recomend 200hz - 5500 for that driver

I need something for the 1000+ hz

Hell I may just end up putting ANOTHER split in my "mid" rca output so I dont have to worry about this stupid limited crossover point

Well maybe I am doing something wrong with them, but I couldnt get them to sound "loud" at all

I had them getting 60ish rms @ 4ohm each, but @ 8ohm probly like 30rms. And they barely played ANY tolerable noise at all, mind you I had them crossed @ 4k. But I just got crappy sounding static out of them

But they just never worked at all for me? Any idea on what coulda been wrong?

Well my deck has 3 rca outputs, sub/mid/high and each can be individually crossed/gained/sloped differently

The high rca output, which is being powerred by a 2 channel that does 65X2 @ 4ohm will be crossed at 1000khz.

And Ive yet to find a small speaker that will fit the bill

Tang Band W4-1337 Titanium Drivers. Play up to 16k or so no problem. You'll have some serious problems though if you want to hear high frequencies off axis. Any cone speaker will beam like a mother in the upper frequencies.

what about these? I like that there 4ohm, and cheap!! I can probly give them a bit more than rated

Also, about your "not hearing" high freq off axis. I built my st350 enclosure offaxis because I thought it was best to have your tweets off axis. If I built another enclosure for whatever pair I choose, that will be mounted where the rearview mirrors would normally, be, you think on axis would be better?

Those Seleniums look like garbage anyway, why you'd pick those tweeters in a car AND put them off axis is beyond me.

Impedance, 4 or 8 ohm, will NOT matter. The 8 ohm drivers are more efficient 90% of the time. So liking 4 ohms over 8 is being ignorant. On axis is definitely better, it will give you the best FR.

But it's your car, do what you want.

I appreciate your advice, dont take my indecisiveness as offensive. I just preferred 4ohm since I dont have alot of power @ 8ohm, but whatever is gonna sound best is what I want.

I did the seleniums because everybody told me they were what I was looking for within my budget with the "screamin highs" to keep up with 4 15's, but I didnt like them.

But no matter what speaker I pick, it should definetely be on axis?

Where those second tang bands I posted a few posts up any good? Im looking for something that LOOKS fairly well to, as Im gonna build a nice enclosure for them and since there in my rearview mirror spot, Id like something aesthetically pleasing.

Just need a speaker that can play some **** good loud music

The Seleniums are crazy loud. The sensitivity is 111db. I have mine highpassed, played with the amp for about 30 seconds, and then just left it. No clue what they ended up crossed at. They will play low though. I used to have some in my room running off a boom box and they actually played voice. It didnt have any midrange whatsoever, but at a low volume it was just fine playing everything I threw at it.

Try giving them some power. These arent your average wimpy 1" car audio tweeters, these are pro audio horn loaded tweeters that weigh 3lbs each. I have a Crunch 1800.4 bridged on 4 of them and they SCREAM. If the amp is doing 1/2 of the max power, which is pretty average, they are seeing 225rms each and they will take it all day long. You honestly wouldnt believe how loud these things are. This is only 4 of them, I own 16 of the things.

Give them some power and make them play from 1khz up. Its always about the install. If you install them RIGHT, you probably wont like them because they will be TOO LOUD for the midrange in your car.

Or if you want something that will play voice like crazy and do it NASTY LOUD, get some Selenium horns. They wont fit in the roof or doors, but put a pair in your trim pannels or on your wall and you wont be able to hear anything but the horns. These are sooooo **** loud.

Thats the driver, put this horn on the end. They sound pretty good.

Or if you want to throw some sound a longggg way and really turn some heads, put these horns on the end of the D-250 driver.

See thats what I dont get, I dont know if the seleniums I got just have a problem or something, but they like barely played any music when I played them. And today just to dick around I pulled out 2 speaker connections on my kicker 650.4 and connected one st350 to that amp crossed @ 400 and 10,000, and it literally played like no music at all, you can barely hear it. And it sounds like shit.

I just dont wanna buy something else and have it sound the same.

I am looking for something with a sub 3' mounting depth so I can keep them up on the windshield though. On axis
