I exchange my 10" JL audio W3v3 s4 sub and box for a 12" W6v2 D4 sub only. I am waiting for the enclosure to arrive some time next week. My amp that was running the sub is still hooked up and the speaker wire that went to the sub is just loose in the trunk. Is this okay? any suggestions till the enclosure arrives?

what amp is it? since you had an s4 sub, i assume that you had a 2ch bridged on it. this amp may or may not be able to handle the 2 ohm mono load that you would want to wire the sub to. you could wire it to 8 ohms, but i dont think you would gain much if any output at all

I am running a 2 channel amp, it is a RF punch series P400.2 amp. i was going to wire it at 8 ohm. if it run it at 8 ohms how much out put will my amp put out?

I am just wondering, but what amp would be a good match for the sub?

No, normally a 2-channel amp would be suited for a bridged at 4-ohm configuration. Some amps may be stable down to 2 or 1 ohm in bridged mode, but not the P400.2.

The JL 12w6 D4 can either be 2 ohm (parallel) or 8 ohm (series). Either way, not best suited for the amp you have.

And no, don't leave your speaker wire just floating around in the trunk. At least disconnect them it from the amp.

at 8 ohms you might have about 200 watts. If your interested shoot me an offer and a shipping location. I have a RF P3001 that I'm thinking of selling most of these have birthsheets about 390-400 watts at 2 ohms.

Ok. if i get that amp, what should i do with a RF Punch series P400.2 amp? atm i have alpine type r SPR-17c component system up front, RF punch series 1694c 6x9 in the back and an alpine v power F-250 4 channel amp running them. would i beable to use this p400.2 in my set up at all? or should i sell it?

I would sell it.

Or, you could bridge that F250 into 2 channels and run your 6x9s. Then use the 400.2 to run your type R components. But, that might be overkill. But, would allow you to use all the equip.

would doing what you just said make the 6x9 and type r components louder? Because when i had my sub in, the bass would drown out the mids and highs. i had my amp gains set low for the sub.
Technically, yes. You would be pushing them with ~2x the power. I have the F250 amp running a set of kicker 5x7 components and kicker 5x7 coaxials... very similar to your setup. I don't have quite the bass that you are looking for, though... I only have a 12" Infinity Kappa 124.7w running off an alpine m450 amp (sounds great, though). So, my mids and highs keep up w/ the bass just fine.

It doesn't seem like you know much about amps and channels (bridging, ohms, etc.). Make sure you know what you are doing. BTW, to bridge the F250, you wil need RCA "Y" adapters (split the L and R channels into two L and R channels).
