I'm a new member here and I have a 2004 Ford F250 King Ranch crew cab and over the past few months, I have been messing around with various aftermarket audio components to try and get some decent sound out of it.
A few months back, I put a system together that consisted of 4 6x8 Kenwood 3 way's, a 5 channel Infinity Reference amp, Kenwood eXcelon 12" shallow mount in a custom box mounted behind the rear seat and a Clarion MAX685BT. I had this setup for a few months but the bass always sounded shallow and was lacking, the speakers also did not really give me what I was looking for. I realize the sub channel on the Infinity is only 150 watts RMS and the eXcelon is a 400 watt RMS sub but it was my first time dealing with car audio and I bought all this stuff based on someone else s advice and I did have it professionally tuned.
A few weeks ago, I found a buyer for all the audio stuff in my truck and decided to re-do everything. This time around, I went with 5x7 Kappa components in the front, 5x7 Kappa 2-ways in the back, a Fosgate P3 12" shallow mount and a Boston Acoustics GT50 amp. I have everything running at 2 ohms and it sounds WAY better then the first setup but I still think its lacking.
I am not going for crazy sound here with bass that's gonna rattle the truck apart, I just want it sounding clean, crisp and clear with a nice sub channel that hits deep and hard. I realize I'm somewhat limited with the space as well. I don't really have a problem spending money either as long as I'm happy with the end result.
I have learned the most on any topic that I needed info about on forums, I should have came here in the first place.
Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help.
