huge voltage drop...

Hi, I have 2 15" kicker l7's each with a zx1000 amp in a '96 tahoe. when higher bass notes hit one of the amps turns off for a few seconds, i tested the voltage and it drops below 10v when it shuts off. I always have the engine tuned on when I have it turned up. I will eventually have a second batt and a HO alt.

My question is if I buy a yellowtop for the back will that make a noticable diference on the voltage drop, and can I run 2ga to the second battery then 0 gauge on everything after the second battery?

 
right now I only have 2 ga cause i had it layin around and really wanted to test all of my new equipment.

Once I can get everything running at a solid 14v will it affect the loudness of my system? Right now it only hits hard on a fairly narow range of low notes and the high notes are not that loud, there is only 9-11v when it is hitting high.

how far up do you have the bass boost? More than likely I think that is whats killin your voltage

0 gauge I would think should help your voltage drop. Also do the big 3 on the alternator.

 
bass boost is only on the first line (I think there is 6 lines), gain is a little under half.

The birthsheets for the amps rated them each at about 1120 watts.

 
The big Three and all battery connections on mine are 2/0. I have no problems.
He isn't talking about 2/0 though, he is talking about 2 gauge...

2/0 is bigger then 1/0, while 2 gauge is smaller then 1/0. Not really a fair comparison here DBBOOM. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
