you can buy just a 12volt power supply http://www.powersupplydepot.com/listitems.asp?dept=2&main=1 can also use a computer one to run a car amp or get a plat amp http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-750 and then you would need some kinda rca out, whether its from a receiver or dvd player and just plug it into your amp

Buy a real 120VAC amplifier and do it the right way, not these halfassed approaches.

There's more to a "home theater" than just subs, do you have any ideas for the rest of it?

meh if you have a system for a car and wanted to go cheap it works
