How to get my parents to like subs

I bought my own truck. I do what I want with it.

Intake, Exaust, Remove the Cat, Electrical system, stereo, head unit, bedliner.... what can they say when I busted my *** for 4 years to pay cash for it at 15 1/2?

obviously the kid is well off enough to have his parents buy him a vehicle. but since they did infact buy it for him, their rules are the ones that matter, so if they decide to take itaway from him, so be it. he shouldn't have to 'kiss their ***' just because of their family's fortunate situation.

My best advice is to just stay on it.

In the first place, they probably think you're just caught up in some fad and want to look cool for all your friends. Which might be the case, but we're not arguing that. Once they see its something you would really enjoy and might could install yourself for fun, they will be more open to letting you modify the vehicle they are paying for. Also don't approach them with the "why can't I spend $1500 on a system" attitude unless you're a suburbian rich kid. No sane parent will automatically let their high school kid drop 1500 in a new vehicle that the kid isn't paying on.

I would push the idea of trying to have an overall setup for 600 which can be done.... but you would do it in parts. You want to save up a while for a CD player and install that yourself, have a little fun, enjoy better sound with more options available on how you can tweak the sound. Keep showing interest, maybe throw out the idea of someone in your family getting you a pair of 6.5s or 6x9s as a Christmas present. Then from there push the idea of you saving and spending 350 for a sub/amp/box combo to fill out the sound.

The big idea here is to NOT drop 1500 dollars one day at the local stereo shop, and also to NOT spend all the money you can save on the stereo equipment.

I know you want to have the baddest and loudest system amongst your friends and your friends' friends, but you will have plenty of time and opportunity to make more money and put more work into it when you're out of high school.

My parents could have bought me a vehicle but they didint

2 reasons.

-I didnt want something like that to be handed to me

-I'm not spoiled

You cant own the title for the vehicle untill you are 18. Once you are 18 it is a good idea to have your parents sign the title over to you along with the insurance. When it comes to that, legally the vehilce is yours and you are no longer a minor so you could push it off a cliff if your heart so desired.

why can't you simply be gratful for what you were given. You wanting to improve it shows your parents how much of a spoiled kid you've become. Put some honest to goodness thought into that, and if you still think you need them to buy you a system, then kill yourself.
Jesus, I bet I won't own a 25000$ rig for well over 5-6yrs from now, being 21 now.
Or... the guy can talk and bargain with his parents and actually put time and money into something himself. He could build it one piece at a time and learn what its like to save money, spend money, and put his earned money to work. He's already said he is willing to pay for the system. If I were the parent, I'd say "go ahead and modify it with your own money.... but if you screw up you pay for it." I definitely wouldn't buy the system for him since it is a pure accessory to something that has a well-defined purpose. Don't hate him because of his parents working hard, earning good money, and giving him a vehicle that will last through college.

all this "just be greatful" is internet bullshit. noone here would really say no to a free car, and would most likely want a stereo in it that is better than stock. But I guess its cool to be completely jerk offs on the internet.

so you're telling me that when your kids are old enough to drive and you had the disposable income to buy them a nice car that won't break down on them and be reliable and safe that you wouldn't? I'm sorry but I would give whatever I can to my children.
lol at this.

what does buying a 25k truck and putting a system in it have to do with reliabilty?

I've told him to keep the truck, and be happy for what he has, not try to get what he doesn't.

getting a junker should be mandatory for every first time driver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imo.gif.3a57bcc70a4835dc53e86ffae1a0b041.gif

I'm with you basically. But what is hard to understand that they bought it, and they don't want him to put a system in it.

my roof my rules, same rules apply

Anyway. As far as a system goes.

Pay for it and keep it low profile. Dont modify the vehile. I doubt they will care. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It is my own system. It's my truck, they just bought it for me and it's under their name....I'll prob be driving it for 5+ years to college...and I am buying the system unless I can get it from my grandparents for christmas...but I doubt it
Get a J O B:rolleyes:

what does the price of the vehicle that his parents bought for him have anything to do with you? The system is purely an accessory which he should pay for, but just because his parents bought him a truck doesn't mean he has to deal with bullshit from you because you think he's spoiled. You have no idea who the kid is and what he does. He already said he plays 3 sports at his school and can't get a job, perhaps his parents bought him this truck because he is saving them money by being able to get a scholarship at college. Worthless opinions about how his parents buying him a car are irrelevant to what he asked.
