I don't think it's "hating", I just remember how many of my classmates had brand-new vehicles bought for them...and how many of those ended up either wrapped around trees or on tow trucks by the end of high school...great that the parents can afford that, but I'd rather not throw away money needlessly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Maybe they do.Don't hate just cause his family has money and wants to provide for him.
It can also help your math skills, such as geometry, trig, algebra, ect.Explain to them car audio is a hobby. You and your dad can build speaker boxes, work on installing stuff together. Yeah Bose is crappy compared to aftermarket stuff, but don't tell them that. tell em you want to get into this as a hobby/way too meet new people/ spend time with Dad. Which would all be true.
My parents were the same way with having to buy their own first car and everything, and they point that out to me often, but I am not hurting the value of the car any, just "wasting" my money in some people's opinions...I am one of those who had to buy their own first car. It didn't even have a radio (or a transmission) but if someone bought a car for me, I would jump at the chance to upgrade and whatnot. If they bought it for him, he should be allowed to do what he pleases. It is his opportunity to show that he can take care of things, maintain them, mold them to his liking, etc. I might not like it if my kid wanted a ricer than sounded like my lawn mower, but I would give him a chance to be responsible with it. There is more to being a responsible car owner than just paying the bills for it. I think many of you have lost sight of the other issue that come with car ownership. I see him having a head start in that he begins with a reliable car, but if he is mature enough (I have seen any blatenly comments to prove he is less mature than the majority of people his age) to handle the responsibility.
As for those who gave money to their parents, mine would disown me. They would rather starve in the streets than take money from thier kids. You can show your appreciation in other ways by keeping your room and restroom neat and orderly or offering to pay for dinner sometimes (when you want to go to a specific place) But paying them back for the car may be futile if your parents don't need the money and you can put in a better place (college, home, [not car audio], etc)
I have been hungry so much of my life, I would be a glutton if I ever got the opportunity.
This is true to an extent. I mean the kids parents work and probably make pretty good money and want to spend some on the kid so he has good transportation through college and what not. Thing is a lot of people get a big head and dont know the value of a hard earned dollar. Most of us here do know as we work hard for it. I know my kids wont be given big gifts like that. They will work for the nice things in life. I will take care of the things they absoutley need. I wonder if this kid is an only child? Wait, I am an only child and had to work for everthing I had. Then again my parents struggled but are doing good now. Cant blame the kid really though. I think it falls more on the parents in this case. I mean who would turn down a vechicle. Its just more pride in working for certain things in life.all this "just be greatful" is internet bullshit. noone here would really say no to a free car, and would most likely want a stereo in it that is better than stock. But I guess its cool to be completely jerk offs on the internet.
I disagree with you here. If they bought it for him, then they knowling gave it to him. Neither the law nor social mores necessarily require all ownership to be titled. Although the relationship is father/son; in some cases if the son owns a vehicle long enough and proves he provided the maintenance, responsibility, insurance, etc; then he can sometimes claim it.The fact remains that the truck isn't yours, and until it is yours the real owners can pretty much dictate what they want done with it...personally, I'd be happy they bought me a vehicle and that's the end of it. But I guess "humility" is not a valuable skill to have anymore, I'm falling behind the times...
I was complimenting you by saying you don't seem to be immature. As for "wasting" your money. Cosumer discretionary transfer of assets is vital to a stabalized capital market. My parents were the same way with having to buy their own first car and everything, and they point that out to me often, but I am not hurting the value of the car any, just "wasting" my money in some people's opinions...
- and you didn't really make sense here??: "I have seen any blatenly comments to prove he is less mature than the majority of people his age"
Yea probably in your best interest not to say the vehicle they just bought you new or anything about it is "garbage". And bose systems arent garbage anyways. 90% of GM vehicles use ac delco shit. That is garbage. If your really set on doing it just do something stealth. Leave the stock head unit in there and do a conservative amp and sub set up that you cant see without really searching for. I doubt they would ever know. I really wouldnt put too much money in to it though, you will more than likely wreck the vehicle if its your first ride.Well, I have some money, I have been working summers since junior high and saved up pretty much all of it...
And, I would like to point the idea out that Bose systems are "garbage" compared to after market audio, but that I would feel like a spoiled jerk because they are proud of it and want me to like it the way it is you know??
Oh, I thought so, I just didn't want to thank you when you were really saying I made some immature comments, which I did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifI was complimenting you by saying you don't seem to be immature. Well, it's my second vehicle.... and that is true I guess...the only thing they would care about is how much money I spent on it and I could just "lie" about that a little...Yea probably in your best interest not to say the vehicle they just bought you new or anything about it is "garbage". You're probably right... to an extent... but this is my situation, I am not gonna try to put myself in a more difficult financial situation, which is almost what it seems you think I should do...
But I do want some good audio though, that I will have bought with my hard earned money like all of you, I just probably phrased my question wrong...
I agree. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gifShow them a system with bass, playing their music, and show them how much better it sounds.
I agree with that. I had a lot of classmates who took their situation for granted and drove their vehicles with reckless abandon. If my kid is dumb and irresponsible enough to wrap his car around a tree. Then he's walking till he can afford his own ride.I don't think it's "hating", I just remember how many of my classmates had brand-new vehicles bought for them...and how many of those ended up either wrapped around trees or on tow trucks by the end of high school...great that the parents can afford that, but I'd rather not throw away money needlessly Maybe they do.
