hey i have a set of infinity perfect 6.1 components powered by a two-channel and is getting about 140 watts RMS. i have no rear fill. and i have a 12" idMAX getting 600 watts RMS at full volume. i dont like to drown out my components with my sub. lately, ive been picky about the midbass. i feel like i want a dedicated midbass driver but dont have the room or time to make a pod for it in my car. i have an audiocontrol EQX which has 13 bands of equalization. i can hear the midbass but it sounds like it's buried in the bass and masked by the highs or something.. it just doesn't sound sweet.. certain midbass notes sound like theyre muffled.. like the sub is playing one half of it while the comonents are trying to play the other half.. and its not blending well. i currently have my system crossed over at 85 hz.. should i raise the crossover higher and let the sub play the midbass more? or should i consider sound deadening my doors? right now, i just have MDF rings as brackets for the woofers and it helps bring out the drum's "OOMPH" more. i also have an RTA but even though i get a decent "flat" read-out the midbass is not clearly audible as id like it to be.. even if its audible it doesnt sound "clear" and "crisp" like i would think it should.. any info would be greatly appreciated!

PS - the midbass sound i am referring to are those that are similar to a sine wave being played at a midbass frequency.

yeah, check out your door situation, egg crate or dynamat a square behind the drivers, and then seal the outer shell of the door (if you're lucky, unlike me.. i have no outer shell) with deadener making sure to seal any holes.

and it should sound much better

yup deaden it first... maybe try and lower the x-over... perhaps the mid isin't being allowed to play as much as it should and thats why its not standing out or shining as you want

download some test tones, and check your freq. response, start @ 50hz (should be on the sub) and go up through 300hz.....

if everything sounds pretty good and level, you might just need to attenuate your tweeters

but shoot for a completely flat response 1st to make sure everything's installed optimally, and then tweak to your tastes

otherwise you're constantly gonna be guessing whether or not you have a problem

ok, and about the egg crate thing, im afraid i cant squeeze the egg crate behind my drivers because i think i have a little tiny clearance problem with the door windows.. the window ALMOST touches the magnets of the drivers and i even have MDF brackets. so basically i dont think i can fit the egg foam thing behind my woofers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif will that make an audible difference?
