How shitty was your first system?

PPI prior to the Art series amps

2 PPI 2150's

Quart 3way components

Early series JL w6's I believe back when JL only made subs.

custom ported box

audio control EQX

Denon forgot the model number

...My first, and probably the best sounding setup that I remember! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Best Buy Box

Single Sony 10" Hexagon

Sony X-Plod 52x4 head unit

Sony X-plod 1200 Amp Mono

Pioneer TS-69's 3-ways reastage

Pioneer TS-5.25" coaxials front

Used a Line Out converter

Installed in a Pontiac Grand Am

Despite the Shittiness, the system was decent sounding. The Amp overheated fast (due to Ohm load most likely), head unit shut off randomly. LOC made the sub sound worse than it should have. I do have to say it sounded ok for a first system, even if it looked horrid.

Sanyo tape player

2 Pioneer 6 and a halfs.

2 Pioneer 6x9's in their own boxes, lol!

2 MTX Terminator 15's, that beated pretty good.

1 MTX old school amp that was Blue.

1 Targa 4channel amp on highs.

1 MTX Crossover

Factory battery and 4g cheap wire, lol!

Not to bad, sounded very loud being it was in a hatch. The car was an 83 Dodge Charger hatchback that I spent 250 bucks on and was also my first car. I believe I had more money into the system than the car, which i have done many times over, lol!

1987

2 coustic 8" in a plywood box no caulding and a bunch of 3/4" holes drilled in it.

1 coustic 180 amp for the sub run off 16ga spk wire to the battery for both poser and ground

2 sparkomatic (from Auto Shack now Autozone) with clear plastic cones.

My first system would have sounded pretty good if I knew how to install and tune the way I do today.

Older Alpine Head Unit

Alpine 6 1/2 Type-R's in front

Pioneer 6x9 3-way's in rear

Kicker 12" CVR

Kicker ZX700.5 five channel

When I got all this I knew nothing about setting gain, crossovers, installing (sound deadening) or doing any sort of tuning. I look back and kind of kick myself.

1990 Grand Am

toshiba cd player

stock interior speakers

boss 2 channel amp w 12 gauge power and ground wiring

(1) 12" profile sub in a flea market bandpass

At the time I thought it was the S***

I then upgraded to a urban 600w amp on two Pioneer IMPP 12's in a seal box, this set up actually hit **** hard for it's time

First system back around 92 comprised of two fosgate 10's in a 6th order bandpass, powered by a punch 75. Then a set of pioneer coax's up front off a punch 45 and some 6x9's and 6" in the back off deck power.....all in a 71 vw bus //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Wish Idda kept those amps...

Worst system sound wise might have to be my first lazy attempt at a 3way active in my mustang with dayton ref 8's, and focal mids/tweets. No deadening, no tuning, just threw it in and never got around to doin it right...sounded like ***. Lesson learned, if your not gonna take the time, don't start the project.

One Kicker CVR10

Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6x9"s

Phoenix Gold R8.0:4.

Total cost was twice my car at the time's value. 91 cavalier.

It sounded good, got loud, which is all that I wanted. No need for booming bass in a car with more rust damage than paint.
