How "SHOULD" type R's sound...

Even when properly installed Type R's have sounded like ass to me.
Alright so this "fluttering" is normal? I'm not sure if it's just the subs, or just the shaking, or a mixture...

To me it kinda sounds like there is like a plastic sheet stuck in the port... It's kinda hard to explain..

no it's not normal. type r's don't sound that bad. there's definitely worse.

you bashing type Rs pretty bad today. I have used type R 12s and 15s and 10s in the past. And they always sounded fine to me. If tuned around 34 hz they hit clean as long as your not sending them a clipped signal

is it custom? Or pre-fab? Im more concerned with the port area.
Custom.. 3/4 MDF, all nailed, glued, and caulked..

"sounds like:

1-port too small

2- sub not mounted goo, air leak

3-box not sealed good"

oooooooo, that first one would ****...

Well.. I used 1"5/8" drywall screws... What should i use? I think thats the best place to start...

that sounds so ignorant. Hit clean... could you please at least try to sound smarter than the average kid I see buying stuff at the pawn shop?

Thats ignorant? But him saying they all sound like crap isn't? I am not saying they sound good enough for an SQ setup but for the average daily system the sound better then comparable kickers and subs of the same price from other companies.

How is clean not a good statment? They dont sound like sh*t. Is that better? Im not trying to argue with you because I know youve worked with alot of different subs and all. But the type R is the best sub you can buy from circuit city and best buy which is where most people buy there equipment at. Most people haven't heard of sundown/re/idmax/fi and bigger companies. So as far as mainstream goes it is a pretty clean hitting sub.
