How much is too much?

i would go with the Rubicon 2500. You said 2100 is kind of far off from rated, trust me and everyone will back me, you will never hear/notice the 400watts you may see 1/10db on the meter but will never hear it. You can get a Ruby for under $300 and it will do a solid 2100. Check prices for another amp that does 2100rms and is not used and see what your gonna pay for it. For example you will pay about 400 for a SAZ-2000d used, $500+ for SAZ-2500d used etc.
I understand what you are saying, but I just don't need that kind of juice for this setup. It wasn't me, but someone said they saw a soundstream clamped at 2100, but with they way they wrote it, I couldn't understand which amp they meant. Anyway, if the Rubicon 1600 will put 700-800 apiece on these subs, I will be fine. The Rubi-16 is only 220 bucks.

Rubis are solid I pushed the heck out of a 1000.1d and it neverfailed. Order from amazon if you are having trouble getting whichever amp.
Back in the day, I used Soundstream Rubicon and Reference, and they rocked. I am getting it from Woofers Etc. through Amazon, 220 bucks shipped for a Rubicon 1600.

You will love those sa's. I built a dual sealed box for A guy with 2 of them (even though the like to be ported soooo much more), he is pushing them with a sundown 1500 and they sound lovely

yea either way you will be fine, and those SA's are nice for price to performance im going to be running a pair of the Obsidian Audio 18s which are pretty much SA's but the Sa's are alittle bit stronger overall. But they are built from the same motor.

So much for that. I ordered this amp 28 Dec 2013 and as of today, the vendor has chose not to ship out the product. I have canceled the order and expect a refund. Before I reorder the same amp through a different vendor, I hoped to get some opinions on using another amp instead. This Soundstream made 2000W @ 1Ω, would an Alpine MRX-1100 that makes 1,100W @ 2Ω be enough to power two Sundown SA12's?
alpine over that soundstream all day long..... the rubicon is a better soundstream amp, yet gets pretty warm at 1 ohm.... ALPINE!!!!! thats my 2 cents.... I've seen sa 12's take 1200 clean each but wouldn't go much more than that...... and you can never harm a sub by underpowering it, that alpine would sound fabolous on there, but the soundstream would probably be alot louder as its double the power, just not as quality as the alpine imo.....

It's done (I hope).I just ordered the TA.1 2000D and 2 SA 12 V2's. I know the amp is more than enough, but that doesn't mean I have to turn every knob I own all the way to the right. I appreciate all the input from you guys.

Ordered this Tuesday, and the guy shipped it within a couple hours via Fedex. They picked it up and it has sat in Bloomington California ever since, though it is scheduled to be here in Upstate NY. tomorrow. D@MMNN you Fedex.

Holy P!$$ !!! I am gonna need an alternator. My stock one makes 130 amps, but that ain't going to cut it. Voltage is getting down to 12ish, and I am only running the amp at half tilt. I have not even set the gain yet, I just turned it up until I had sound which was at about say 3 on a scale of 1-10. But, these SA 12's rumble man. I am very impressed with these subs and the amp so far. The amp is stiff. I still have some tuning to do, but so far so good. I appreciate all the suggestions, recommendations, nut hugging and hand holding from you guys. I think I will be very happy with this.

go with singer alternator. i run a mechman and am not very happy with it

Ok, what I really needed, was to set my gains. I finally put a DMM on my amp and set the gain as close to right as can be with that, and what a world of difference. It is still hitting hard and low enough to put whales into heat, but my voltage won't drop under 14 and my light don't dim. Even when listening to Barry Manilow! Man, it gets said so much here, because it can never be said enough, SET YOUR GAINS PROPERLY. Thanks again everyone, and of course, just kidding about the Barry thing.

Set the bass knob at max then set your amp. Then you can turn it to max. You won't go past what you have your gain set at that way.
depends on if it's a bass knob or remote gain knob. I believe if it's remote gain, then it doesn't matter where it's set at because it will never go past what the gain is set on the amp. I personally set mines in the middle to account for songs that are recorded poorly and have little to no output
