How much is too much?

i was just giving you a heads up alot of new guys on here keep saying throw 1500w to them theyll love it when in truth its a real bind on the subs and dangerous to the equipment.
hell if seen folded cones when burping them on like 5k each.
D@MA, I don't need any of that. I think I am going to scale back on the amp. I would rather it sound good and LAST, than beat like a kid with his first playboy, and last about as long.

That Alpine MRX110, CEA rated at 1,100 watts at 2Ω, you think that would wake up two sa12's? The whole system is alpine right now. Subs are the final stage. I even looked at Alpine subs, but I don't think so, they seem too pricey.

You can't go wrong with the sundown 1500v3, I got mine off here, used. You stated you don't buy used electronics, most of the guys on here take real good care of their 'investments' and sometimes you can get a GREAT deal on a slightly used amp, got my 1500v3 for 340, it was less than a year old and you would be hard pressed to figure out that I am not the original owner. So peruse the classies here, or even check db-r for some really good deals that pop up from to time. Good luck dude.

I would go with a good solid 1500w amp like an saz1500dv3 or an dd m1c they are a bit pricey I paid 412 with tax for my dd m1c but the amps quality speaks for its self.
Good advice, but that amp is out of my budget. What about the Soundstream Rubicon 1600.

Should perform admirably if you are wiring to 1 ohm
yeah, 1 Ω. I plan to invert these subs as the prefabs I have are a little small, within the specs by Sundown, but on the smaller side for the recommendations. Being this amp has a phase 0°-180° switch, I can wire everything normal, and just flip the switch to 180°, right? Also, I have 10g knuconcepts speaker wire, and their 8g power wire. I have planned to use the 10g for all the voice coil jumpers, and 8g to the amp from the subs. Does that sound like a plan?

Sounds good but the 8gauge isnt needed

for that power I usually run 12awg inside the box and 10awg outside

8awg isnt going to perform aby different performance wise than 12awg on that low of power though it does look cool

Cool, thanks. I have plenty of these wires, and it is decent wire, so I am not out to buy more if I don't have to. The amp has 8g for speaker terminals, so that was the main reason for that. Thinking about it, I have a spool of knuconcepts 12g that came with the amp wiring kit. Maybe 20', I tossed it in a box of stuff and forgot about it until now. Either way, I have 8,10, 12. This should be a done deal by this time next week. I appreciate your help man.

I am going to jump the voice coils with 12g, run speaker to speaker with 10g, and then 8g to the amp, just because I can.lol

Dude, that looks nice, and a hell of a deal. I am out to be done with this build this week though, so the Rubicon will do. I plan to do more to my son's truck soon, and this little jewel you suggested may be in his future. Thanks man.
i would go with the Rubicon 2500. You said 2100 is kind of far off from rated, trust me and everyone will back me, you will never hear/notice the 400watts you may see 1/10db on the meter but will never hear it. You can get a Ruby for under $300 and it will do a solid 2100. Check prices for another amp that does 2100rms and is not used and see what your gonna pay for it. For example you will pay about 400 for a SAZ-2000d used, $500+ for SAZ-2500d used etc.
