Yea they are still decent but for less money and more power just get the ppiAlright, so I ordered the TA1.2000D, and the order was screwed up, so I canceled it. I am about to reorder an amp for the two Sundown SA12's, and I am thinking of going with something different. I am considering a Rubicon 1600 or maybe even a Precision Power BK1800. I am really digging the Rubicon. I used them way back when, but they are an entirely different amp these days. Are the new Rubicons worth their weight in fiat currency, or not.
I got a Rockford t2000 I could sell u for 250 plus shipI am going with the Black-Ice amp and be done with it. Thanks for the input man.
I'd go this route. The Power Series RF's are beasts! I had a T1000 for a while and the birth sheet said 1443 @ 1. I'd imagine the 2000 is good for 2600-2700. Do you you have the birth sheet and everything?I got a Rockford t2000 I could sell u for 250 plus ship
That's easily a hel/ of a deal
No had it clamped once on 4 black t1s at 2 ohms 12.6 volts did a tad over 1800rmsI'd go this route. The Power Series RF's are beasts! I had a T1000 for a while and the birth sheet said 1443 @ 1. I'd imagine the 2000 is good for 2600-2700. Do you you have the birth sheet and everything?
So, the Rubicons are not a good choice? Was it a Rubicon 2500 you witnessed only producing 2,100? If so, that is pretty far off the mark. I am not sure that power is a major concern with this choice as all of them are creating more than the 600W max of the SA12's. The Rubicon 1600 will make 800 per sub, the BK1800 will make 900, and the Tarantula will make 1,000. I won't be beating this system for all it is worth, it is just a daily driver setup that is actually overkill for what I need. This is going in the cab of an Extracab S10, filling the rear of the little truck. Being they all make the power required, the Rubicon 1600 is first choice, but based solely on its looks (after countless women, still, I have learned nothing there). I have been reading around a bit, and see some speak of the them getting pretty hot though. I will be mounting this amp vertically, so I don't want an amp known to double as a hotplate.Ppi, soundstream are both epsilon amps and i bet they look and will put out very similar to each other just pick one. Can't go wrong seen those rubicons doin 2100 clamped at 1 ohm. I would go with the best priced one
( not the rubicon 1600 the 2500) just to be clear
Inverting will help. One last thing on this build, I am nowhere near my tools while stationed at Fort Drum, so....I...I...I bought prefabs. I spent way too much time trying to get the use of a table saw, router, etc., but had no luck, so I just grabbed some prefabs to use until I can get home. These are specified to be 1.85 ft and tuned to 38HZ. I think they were said to be made for Alpine type R. Being the Sundowns require 1.5-2 ft., would it be best to invert these subs while they are in these boxes?
Man, music is all I will ever do with this. I listen to rock/metal, so , not a lot of sustained booming. I actually was going to do two 8's, but the more I tried to make it work in this little truck without losing my jump seats in back, the more I realized it wasn't going to happen. So, being that it was a very few dollars more to go bigger, I went bigger. I might burp once to set the gains, but from there on, I will be bumping more than anything. I have no qualms with using a real 1,200 watt rated amp as I think they will do all I need, and the system would have less stress. I was favoring an Alpine MRX110 (CEA Rated at 1,100W). A solid 1,200-1,500 watt amp would do fine. I dig the Soundstream Rubicon 1600 also. I wish more of this stuff was CEA certified, it would make matching things so much easier. Thanks for your advice man.lets just say this:
a: on music where peaks dont last that long the sundowns will be fine
b: on dubstep and steady notes you have to be careful the 2.5inch coil is close to its limit at 1kw
c: in pure sine wave the sundowns will tear up quick which is why for comps we burp subs
dont get me wrong sundown makes an awesome product but over the past 6 months people keep upping the 1kw max jacob stated for daily to around 1500w which is fine for music.
most 2.5inch coiled subs will handle that on music
ie: dd 2500, audioque sdc2.5, obsidian, skar vvx, idmax, dc level 3, kicker cvx, american bass tnt
but if you want to throw more power i suggest a larger voice coil
i was just giving you a heads up alot of new guys on here keep saying throw 1500w to them theyll love it when in truth its a real bind on the subs and dangerous to the equipment.Man, music is all I will ever do with this.
